We present a platform for active learning that generates dynamic questions and provides real time feedback to students. The proposed platform aims to provide alternatives to the static exercises that are found in all major learning platforms in the web, for which a fixed set of questions is defined once and then very rarely updated. We also emphasize the importance of feedback from the educational perspective, as this allows students to improve performance even when their answers are incorrect. This paper presents the learning principles that have guided the design of our platform, and discusses the various software engineering decisions that were taken to implement the platform. In particular, we describe the cloud computing technologies that allow us to serve multiple students with minimum infrastructure maintenance effort.
