TL;DR: An abnormal network traffic detecting method that can detect even mutant attacks that use a new port number or changed payload, while signature-based systems are not capable of detecting these types of attacks.
Abstract: One recent trend in network security attacks is an increasing number of indirect attacks which influence network traffic negatively, instead of directly entering a system and damaging it. In future, damages from this type of attack are expected to become more serious. In addition, the bandwidth consumption by these attacks influences the entire network performance. This paper presents an abnormal network traffic detecting method and a system prototype. By aggregating packets that belong to the identical flow, we can reduce processing overhead in the system. We suggest a detecting algorithm using changes in traffic patterns that appear during attacks. This algorithm can detect even mutant attacks that use a new port number or changed payload, while signature-based systems are not capable of detecting these types of attacks. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm can identify attacks that cannot be detected by examining only single packet information.
TL;DR: In this article, a method and system for remotely managing and protecting computer networks from unauthorized intrusion and hacking attacks is presented, which allows a remote security management center to provide many of the monitoring and protection functions traditionally carried out by an information technology support center located at a particular network site.
Abstract: There is presented a method and system for remotely managing and protecting computer networks from unauthorized intrusion and hacking attacks. The present invention allows a remote security management center to provide many of the monitoring and protection functions traditionally carried out by an information technology support center located at a particular network site. The remote center can monitor a protected network and intervene to thwart hacking or viral/worm attacks against the separate protected network through the global network attached to the protected network (e.g. Internet).
TL;DR: The network security confidentiality vector, network security integrity vector and network security availability vector are described and some major type of attacks in MANET are presented.
TL;DR: This survey reviews the main security issues in the access and core network (vulnerabilities and threats) and provides a classification and categorization of attacks in mobile network and analyze major attacks on 4G mobile networks.
Abstract: Since the 1G of mobile technology, mobile wireless communication systems have continued to evolve, bringing into the network architecture new interfaces and protocols, as well as unified services, high data capacity of data transmission, and packet-based transmission (4G). This evolution has also introduced new vulnerabilities and threats, which can be used to launch attacks on different network components, such as the access network and the core network. These drawbacks stand as a major concern for the security and the performance of mobile networks, since various types of attacks can take down the whole network and cause a denial of service, or perform malicious activities. In this survey, we review the main security issues in the access and core network (vulnerabilities and threats) and provide a classification and categorization of attacks in mobile network. In addition, we analyze major attacks on 4G mobile networks and corresponding countermeasures and current mitigation solutions, discuss limits of current solutions, and highlight open research areas.
TL;DR: In this paper, the security function for the home network side is provided by the access server device on the service provider side, so that it becomes possible to prevent attacks from the malicious users with respect to the home networks, without implementing excessive security functions in the home gateway device.
Abstract: In a communication system using a home gateway device and an access server device, the security function for the home network side is provided by the access server device on the service provider side, so that it becomes possible to prevent attacks from the malicious users with respect to the home network, without implementing excessive security functions in the home gateway device on the home network side and without requiring professional skills for setting and management to the user of the home gateway device.
