TL;DR: In this article, a system for aggregating web feeds relevant to a geographical locale from multiple sources is described, which includes, aggregating a web feed using identifier information included in source metadata, parsing the web feed according to mapping information in the source metadata to generate a normalized web feed from the Web feed having a data structure specified by the mapping information.
Abstract: Systems and methods for aggregating web feeds relevant to a geographical locale from multiple sources are disclosed. One embodiment includes, aggregating a web feed using identifier information included in source metadata, parsing the web feed according to mapping information in the source metadata to generate a normalized web feed from the web feed having a data structure specified by the mapping information, determining the geographical locale that is relevant to the web feed, performing filtering on the normalized web feed to determine whether the normalized web feed includes qualified content for publication, and/or publishing the qualified content to be accessible to the user on the user device through a user interface on which the qualified content is depicted as being relevant to the geographical locale.
TL;DR: A content syndication platform as discussed by the authors is a platform that manages, organizes and makes available for consumption content that is acquired from the Internet, such as RSS feeds, e.g., from the Web.
Abstract: A content syndication platform, such as a web content syndication platform, manages, organizes and makes available for consumption content that is acquired from the Internet. In at least some embodiments, the platform can acquire and organize web content, and make such content available for consumption by many different types of applications. These applications may or may not necessarily understand the particular syndication format. An application program interface (API) exposes an object model which allows applications and users to easily accomplish many different tasks such as creating, reading, updating, deleting feeds and the like. Further, in at least some embodiments, a user can subscribe to a particular web feed, be provided with a user interface that contains distinct indicia to identify new feeds, and can efficiently consume or read RSS feeds using both an RSS reader and a web browser.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a previewing functionality for web browsers that enables the application to pre-fetch content of the documents associated with the links, and pre-render images of documents.
Abstract: An application such as a web browser obtains a set of data items, such as search results received in response to a search query, or a set of articles received from a web feed, the data items collectively comprising links to do external documents, such as web pages. Previewing functionality enables the application to pre-fetch content of the documents associated with the links, and to pre-render images of the documents. Thus, when the user selects a link to preview, a preview is rapidly displayed by reading the pre-rendered image corresponding to the selected link.
TL;DR: In this paper, an improved dancer assembly equipped with a pair of nips that are driven at speeds responsive to the rate of web travel through the machine so that tension between a web supply and the dancer nips is isolated from the downstream portions of the web.
Abstract: An improved packaging machine that has improved features for feeding a web in the form of a continuous chain of bags through the machine while helping maintain the web in proper alignment and proper tension, and having additional features for improved loading of the bags. The improved web feed includes a dancer assembly equipped with a pair of nips that are driven at speeds responsive to the rate of web travel through the machine so that tension between a web supply and the dancer nips is isolated from the downstream portions of the web. A web feed mechanism which automatically threads the web through baggers is also provided. The web feed mechanism includes elastic belts which frictionally grip the web to isolate the tension in the section between the dancer nips and the belts from the tension of the web feed mechanism. Nips adjacent the load station and at the downstream end of the web feed mechanism have surface speeds exceeding the surface speed of the belts to maintain tension on the web through the web feed mechanism and effect a slight pre-opening of the bags before they are delivered to the load station. Other features include a cantilevered support of the web supply and bagger, a bagger support which functions as a plenum, an improved dancer assembly, and improved application of compressed air for bag opening.
TL;DR: In this article, a personal computer in communication with the mobile terminal, for example, via a Bluetooth connection, may monitor the web browsing activities of the user on the computer and create a report based on this information, which may contain data regarding the web sites visited by the user, and feed links available for those sites.
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for discovering and deploying web feed links to mobile terminals. A personal computer in communication with the mobile terminal, for example, via a Bluetooth connection, may monitor the web browsing activities of the user on the computer and create a report based on this information. Such a report may contain data regarding the web sites visited by the user, and feed links available for those sites. The report may be transmitted to the user's mobile terminal, allowing the mobile terminal to automatically subscribe to and unsubscribe from web feeds, such as, for example, RSS feeds.
