TL;DR: The relationship ofWarnockia to its most closely related genera,Brazoria, Physostegia andMacbridea, is discussed and a phylogenetic analysis, dot-maps, keys to species and complete synonymy are presented.
Abstract: A revisionary treatment ofBrazoria is rendered. Three taxa are recognized:B. arenaria andB. truncata, the latter with two intergrading morphogeographical varieties: var.truncata and var.pulcherrinma (Lundell)M. W. Turner, comb. nova. A fourth taxon, orignally described asB. scutellarioides, is separated as a new monotypic genus,Warnockia, resulting in the new combinationWarnockia scutellarioides (Engelm. & A. Gray)M. W. Turner. Descriptions, illustrations, a phylogenetic analysis, dot-maps, keys to species and complete synonymy are presented. The relationship ofWarnockia to its most closely related genera,Brazoria, Physostegia andMacbridea, is discussed.
TL;DR: The five mint genera Brazoria, Macbridea, Physostegia, Synandra and Warnockia (Lamioideae: Lamiaceae) are all North American endemics and form a monophyletic group that can be recognized as the recircumscribed tribe Synandreae.
