TL;DR: Species diversity of Iranian Cleridae (Coleoptera: Cleroidea) is summarized in this paper, based on examination of the literature and also includes records from specimens examined in many collections.
Abstract: Species diversity of Iranian Cleridae (Coleoptera: Cleroidea) is summarized in this paper. A total of 48 species and 1 subspecies in 14 genera belonging to 4 subfamilies of Cleridae are recorded. Eight species, Thaneroclerus buqueti (Lefebvre, 1835), Denops albofasciatus (Charpentier, 1825), Flabellotilloidea palaestina (Pic, 1900), Clerus mutillaroides Reitter, 1894, Opilo cilicicus Hintz, 1902, Opilo longipilis Fairmaire, 1892, Trichodes alberi Escherich, 1894 and Trichodes inermis Reitter, 1894 are recorded from Iran for the first time. Synonymies and distribution data are given. The checklist is based on examination of the literature and also includes records from specimens examined in many collections. Taxa are arranged hierarchically under the categories of subfamily, genus, species and subspecies.
TL;DR: The association of eighteen species of'Cleridae (Coleoptera) with tallgrass and shortgrass prairie ecosystems in central North America is reported for the first time.
Abstract: The association of eighteen species of'Cleridae (Coleoptera) with tallgrass and shortgrass prairie ecosystems in central North America is reported for the first time. New flower visitation, habitat association, distribution, and/or rearing records are reported for Enoclerus analis (LeConte), E, coccineus coccineus (Schenkling), E. cordifer (LeConte), E. rosmarus (Say), E. zonatus (Klug), Placopterus thoracicus pallipes (Wolcott), Trichodes bibalteatus LeConte, T. bicinctus Green, T. nutalli (Kirby), Phyllobaenus dubius (Wolcott), P. knausii (Wickham), P. pubescens (LeConte), P. subfasciatus (LeConte), Isohydnocera albocincta (Horn), I. brunnea (Horn), I. curtipennis (Newman), I. tricondylae (LeConte) and Wolcottia pedalis (LeConte). Diagnostic characters are resented to separate adults of P. dubius, a species endemic to the northern shortgrass prairie region, from the common and widespread P. pubescens.
TL;DR: A new species of Lactobacillus which has been observed in wines of high alcohol content for many years is described and named L. trichodes is proposed because of the marked tendency to grow as long intertwined chains and filaments resembling a mass of hair.

TL;DR: An analysis was made of the problem caused by white grubs in cornfields at El Cielo Biosphere Reserve and addition of chicken manure to the soil may help cope with the white grub problem and increase soil fertility.
Abstract: An analysis was made of the problem caused by white grubs in cornfields at El Cielo Biosphere Reserve. Two species are mainly responsible for corn damage: Phyllophaga trichodes and P. misteca. The life cycle of both species is described. During an outbreak of P. trichodes, plant height reduction correlated positively with root damage and root damage white grub numbers. A list of ten natural enemies of white grubs is provided. Soil degradation may have promoted the white grub problem in the last 20 years. Addition of chicken manure to the soil may help cope with the white grub problem and increase soil fertility.
