Abstract: The invention comprises a method of forming a concrete structure. The method comprises placing plastic concrete in a form of a desired shape, encasing the concrete in insulating material having insulating properties equivalent to at least 1 inch of expanded polystyrene and allowing the plastic concrete to at least partially cure inside the insulating material. An insulated concrete form and a method of using the insulated concrete form are also disclosed.

Abstract: A light-weight, portable, self-contained concrete form (11) for fabricating tilt-up concrete walls including a frame made up from metal frame members (12-16) joined at their ends and having a channel shape with the channels facing inwardly. A reinforcing mat (17) including an array of crisscrossed rebars (18) disposed within the frame (12-16) and held in place by brackets (21) positioned and welded at the ends thereof. The frame may be shipped to the job-site, laid on a casting surface, and filled with concrete. When the concrete cures, the resulting concrete wall, form (11) and all, is tilted-up into place with a crane and attached to form a section of a concrete wall.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of making insulated concrete tilt-up panels is described, in which an insulating material such as polystyrene is formed into a desired shape corresponding to the panel shape.
Abstract: In a method of making insulated concrete tilt-up panels, an insulating material such as polystyrene is formed into a desired shape corresponding to the panel shape. Attachment grooves are formed across the surface of the insulating material. Preferably, the attachment grooves have a substantially triangular cross-section. The insulating material is laid groove-side-up in a concrete form and wet concrete is poured into the form. The concrete fills the grooves, attaching the insulation to the concrete panel. When the concrete is cured, the panel may be stood up and set in place so that the insulating material forms the exterior surface of the panel. A finishing material may be applied to the exterior surface of the panel. A panel set for use in constructing low-income residential housing includes four concrete tilt-up panels. The insulating material and concrete forms may be prepared in the quantity desired for the entire construction project and transported to a casting area at the construction site. The panels may be rapidly cast and assembled, reducing the time and labor required to complete the project.
