TL;DR: ThorCon as discussed by the authors is a molten salt reactor design targeting the developing world, which uses existing technology from MSRE to allow rapid development and uses shipbuilding techniques to enable rapid deployment.
Abstract: ThorCon is a molten salt reactor design targeting the developing world. It uses existing technology from MSRE to allow rapid development. It uses shipbuilding techniques to allow rapid deployment. The result is a capital cost of $1.2B/1GWe, operating costs.
TL;DR: In this chapter, Decay heat and radiotoxicity for thorium fuel cycle are compared with conventional uranium fuel cycle, and a rough estimate for ThorCon type Molten Salt Reactor is shown.
Abstract: In this chapter, the following items are described for environment, waste, and resources, which are specific to thorium fuel cycle. Decay heat and radiotoxicity for thorium fuel cycle are compared with conventional uranium fuel cycle, at first. A rough estimate for ThorCon type Molten Salt Reactor is shown. At the end of this chapter, resource issue mainly on thorium is described.
