Abstract: This paper describes the analysis and processing programs for a set of natural language texts in a medical area (x-ray reports on patients with breast cancer). The programs convert the information in the text into a tabular form suitable for further automatic information processing (e.g., editing of records, question answering on the data collected, or statistical summaries of the data). To set up a tabular form appropriate for the data, we first perform a manual linguistic analysis on a sample of the texts. From this we obtain the word classes and the form of the table (called an information format) for this type of material. We then apply the series of processing programs to the sentences of the texts. Each sentence is parsed with the Linguistic String Parser English grammar in order to obtain its grammatical structure; certain standard English transformations are then applied to regularize the grammatical form of the sentence; and finally a set of "formatting transformations" map the words of the sentence into the slots of the format or table, in such a way that the sentence is reconstructible (up to paraphrase) from its representation in the table. The results of applying these programs to a corpus are described. This procedure enables us to convert a natural language corpus into a structured data base.
TL;DR: In this paper, a table of real cubic number fields with discriminants less than 100,000 was presented, which complements the existing table of 3169 complex nonconjugate cubic fields with a discriminant greater than -20,000.
Abstract: In this paper the author describes the construction of a table of totally real cubic number fields. Each field is distinguished by the coefficients of a generating polynomial, the index of this polynomial over the field and the discriminant of the field. The class number and a fundamental pair of units is also given. This paper describes the construction of a table of the 4794 totally real nonconjugate cubic fields with discriminants less than 100,000, which extends the existing table of fields with discriminants less than 20,000 given by Godwin and Samet [7]. It was discovered that two fields are missing from the latter table, namely those with discriminants 13549, 19736. Both have class number 1. The table complements the author's existing table of the 3169 complex nonconjugate cubic fields with discriminants greater than -20,000 (Angelí [1], and Shanks [8]). It has been deposited with the Mathematics of Computation's Depository of Unpublished Mathematical Tables; copies may also be obtained from the author on request. Initially, a table of polynomials was produced using the method developed by Godwin [6] which shows that a real cubic field with discriminant A, and its conjugates, are generated by the zeros a, ß, y of a polynomial f(x) = x3 ax2 + bx c where (1) 5 = 14{(a ß)2 +(ßy)2 + (y a)2} = a2 3b < A1'2. By stipulating that the zeros may be constrained to the bounds 0 0, generated three conjugate real cubic fields (or a single cyclic field) with field discriminant A = D/k2 where k2 divides D. Since D < 453/27 and S2 < 100,000, then k2
TL;DR: The maintenance of arbitrarily large tables of previously computed values for functions on integer domains becomes practical when those tables are built using constructor functions which suspend evaluation of their arguments.
Abstract: The maintenance of arbitrarily large tables of previously computed values for functions on integer domains becomes practical when those tables are built using constructor functions which suspend evaluation of their arguments. Two styles of programming with such tables are presented. The first results from replacing recursive invocations within standard recursive function definitions with a reference into a table which is predefined to be all the possible results of the function. The second, more sophisticated, style requires that the table be defined strictly through a generation scheme. In either case the table may be available to the user as a data structure exclusive of the function definition with entries still being manifested only when they are actually used.
TL;DR: A data storage and retrieval system facilitates interface between a human operator and a digital processing system or computer, by first manually selecting visual human word(s) in an identification table overlaid on a display board and next automatically retrieving information by its corresponding address code in conjunction with a magnetic card as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A data storage and retrieval system facilitates interface between a human operator and a digital processing system or computer, by first manually selecting visual human word(s) in an identification table overlaid on a display board and next automatically retrieving information by its corresponding address code in conjunction with a magnetic card. Moreover, since the identification table and magnetic card are replaceable from one item block to another item block, numerous arbitrary and repeatable combinations of requested words and their corresponding addresses a different item block can be easily made for many different operators and themes by applying data processing and versatile programming.

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-purpose table is provided with a lower part for use as shelving, with or without drawers or the like, and with a divided top plate.
Abstract: The multi-purpose table is provided with a lower part for use as shelving, with or without drawers or the like, and with a divided top plate. If only one half of the table is required, then the side plate can be raised up and the support members can be pushed into openings. To use the table as a drawing board the support members are pushed in until the table top is in the inclined position. To use the table as a dining table the support member can be rotated so that the tabletop lies horizontal. To use both sides of the table the two table top halves are raised and rotated 90 deg. The table can be mounted on rollers if required.
TL;DR: A fully tested Table for the elementary sub-domain King and Rook versus King (elementary to play, not to program) showed an order-of-magnitude advantage over a conventional programming approach.
Abstract: A POP-2 package known as AL1 ("Advice Language 1") has been developed during the Spring semester by the CS397DM graduate class while the author was visiting the University of Illinois. The object was to facilitate the transfer of specialist knowledge about chess end-games into machine memory. The package comprises two main modules:An Advice module (input: a board-state; output: an advice-list). This module is partitioned into "Advice Tables" corresponding to a subdivision of the task domain into sub-domains.A Search module (inputs: a board-state and an advice-list; output: a "forcing-tree strategy" for securing specified goals). This module includes move-generation, the only part of the package which is specific to chess. For executing strategies, a tree-lookup routine generates play against an opponent. A Table-editor allows the user to display, modify, or extend the Tables. These are of two kinds: A single Master Table decides, on the basis of properties of the input board-state, to which of a "committee of experts" it should be referred. The "experts" themselves are the individual Advice Tables, each written for a specific sub-domain. A fully tested Table for the elementary sub-domain King and Rook versus King (elementary to play, not to program) showed an order-of-magnitude advantage over a conventional programming approach.

TL;DR: Sure, here is the TLDR: The relative abundance of foraminiferal species in the surface layer of bottom sediments from the Atlantic Ocean is described and related to paleotemperature analysis.
Abstract: Quantitative ratios of tests of planktonic foraminiferal species in thanatocoenoses within the surface layer of bottom sediments from Iceland to the Equator are described. Subarctic, boreal, subtropical and tropical types of thanatocoenoses and their subtypes are distinguished. Each subtype corresponds to a 2-3°C interval of mean annual temperature of the upper layer of ocean water. Comparison of fossil thanatocoenoses from Quaternary sediment cores with recent thanatocoenoses offers new potentials for paleotemperature analysis.
