About: Sticholonche is a research topic. Over the lifetime, 2 publications have been published within this topic receiving 44 citations. The topic is also known as: Sticholonchea.
TL;DR: Sticholonche must be placed in a distinct order, the Taxopodida Fol 1883, because of the lack of a central capsule, the ultrastructure of its axopodial system, and the constitution of its skeleton.
TL;DR: In this article, a quantitative investigation of Sticholonche (Radiolaria) from water samples (0 to 800 m depth) in three vertical profiles from the Equatorial Pacific revealed that: (1) Stichamonche constitutes a substantial percentage of the total radiolarian standing stock, and hence can be regarded as an important marine protozoan group; (2) maximum standing stock occurs between 55 and 110 m depth; and (3) below 200 m the standing stock is relatively low and uniform throughout the sample depths compared to that above 200 m.
