TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus and method are provided to prevent the overflow of waste ink from a primary spittoon used in a service station of a thermal ink-jet device, such as a facsimile machine.
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided to prevent the overflow of waste ink from a primary spittoon used in a service station of a thermal ink-jet device, such as a facsimile machine. An opening is defined in a wall of the primary spittoon such that when the waste ink level within the primary spittoon reaches the opening, the waste ink issues from the opening for collection by a secondary spittoon. A passageway may be employed to route the ink from the opening to the secondary spittoon, with the passageway preferably represented by a rib formed externally on the primary spittoon wall. By employing the method of the present invention, one avoids the potential contamination of the internal workings of the thermal ink-jet device caused by the unchecked overflow of ink from the primary spittoon.
TL;DR: The portable pocket spittoon as discussed by the authors is a flesh colored bottle shaped object made with FDA approved plastic material, which is intended to be used with one hand to spit into periodically during a chew.
Abstract: The portable pocket spittoon is a flesh colored bottle shaped object made with FDA approved plastic material. It will be manufactured by using the blow molding method, currently used in making other similar plastic objects. The portable pocket spittoon has an original and unique hand grip design that projects a completely different profile from anything on today's market. The lid is hinged to help prevent dropping and spilling it. Due to the hand grip and hinged lid, the tobacco chewer can use it to spit into periodically during the course of a chew. The portable pocket spittoon is intended to be used with one hand. Its purpose is to permit the tobacco chewer to accomplish what has been very difficult to do in the past. It will permit the chewer to chew very discreetly and eliminate the unsightly viewing of a person spewing tobacco juice openly. As stated eariler, two objects defined in the dictionary describe the portable pocket spittoon. Those objects are, the "bottle" and the "spittoon". This means that the portable spittoon could be classified as being a new and useful improvement over old objects, that is, both the "bottle" and the "spittoon".
TL;DR: In this paper, a drum-mounted roller spittoon system is developed which allows decap spitting as often as desired without the need to move the print heads out of the print zone.
Abstract: In many printing systems, a print head assembly moves from a print zone to a service station outside the print zone, to allow cleaning and protection of print heads during a non-printing period or a shutdown process. With drum-type printers, it is generally considered impractical to interrupt printing by moving the print heads to a position of a drum to perform a decap spitting, i.e., cleaning of the print heads. Advantageously, a drum-mounted roller spittoon system is developed which allows decap spitting as often as desired without the need to move the print heads out of the print zone. In the drum-mounted roller spittoon system, a roller spittoon cartrige is removably mounted in a channel in the printer drum.
TL;DR: In this paper, a spittoon is configured to provide a passage that allows matter to pass through the tube and be contained within the bucket, and a tube, a first cap lip and a second cap lip is defined to hold a smokeless tobacco can.
Abstract: This invention relates generally to smokeless tobacco, and more specifically, to systems and methods for the use and storage of smokeless tobacco. In one embodiment, the invention includes a spittoon that includes a spittoon bucket and a spittoon cap. The spittoon cap is configured to be coupled to the spittoon bucket and the spittoon cap includes a tube, a first cap lip and a second cap lip. Additionally, the first cap lip and the second cap lip define a cap cavity, which is configured to hold a smokeless tobacco can. Furthermore, the tube is configured to provide a passage that allows matter to pass through the tube and be contained within the spittoon bucket.
TL;DR: In this paper, a spittoon for servicing an inkjet printhead is provided, which includes a bottom and one or more walls, at least one of which has an inwardly extending lip.
Abstract: A spittoon for servicing an inkjet printhead is provided, where the spittoon includes a bottom and one or more walls. At least one wall of the spittoon has an inwardly extending lip. The walls of the spittoon, taken in combination with the bottom of the spittoon, define a waste ink reservoir. The presence of at least one lip on the spittoon walls helps retain the waste ink when the spittoon is moved or tilted, minimizing ink spills.
