TL;DR: In this paper, techniques for generating embeddable widgets capable of accessing contents in a cloud-based platform are presented. But they do not specify how to integrate them into a software product to enable the user to access the target content without navigating away from the software product.
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for generating embeddable widgets capable of accessing contents in a cloud-based platform. In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving a request identifying a target content in the cloud-based platform. The method further comprises automatically generating a plurality of software codes which correspond to a software widget that enables access to the target content. According to some embodiments, the software widget is to be embedded in a software product so as to enable a user of the software product to access the target content without navigating away from the software product. Among other advantages, embodiments disclosed herein provide easy integration of centralized contents to users and third-party web-service vendors, and reduce the effort necessary for system administrators in controlling data security and tracking different activities performed to the centralized content, thereby enabling more intuitive user experience without sacrificing data security.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a system for remote configuration of widgets, which includes a device, a processor, a configuration application, and a user interface, and the user interface accesses the configuration application.
Abstract: A system is provided for remote configuration of widgets. The system includes a device, a processor, a configuration application, and a user interface. The user interface accesses the configuration application. The configuration application, when executed by the processor, selects the device and uploads a state of the device to the configuration application. The configuration application executes a simulator to simulate the device for a software widget based on the state and generates a configuration for at least one of the software widget and the device based on executing the simulator. The configuration application also verifies the configuration on the simulator and downloads the configuration to the device.
TL;DR: In this article, a software widget running on a user device may be designed to operate in a locked or an unlocked mode, where the user has full interactivity with the widget.
Abstract: A software widget running on a user device may be designed to operate in a locked or an unlocked mode. In unlocked mode, the user has full interactivity with the widget. In locked mode, however, at least some of the interactivity with the widget is restricted, despite the fact that the widget still operates normally otherwise while in the locked mode. While in locked mode, user input may be compared against a predefined unlocking sequence to determine if the widget should be unlocked.
TL;DR: The development of a personalhealth telemonitoring application which is integrated into the Internet television based home communication environment and enables personal-health service that is comparable to the one, provided by dedicated personalhealth systems.
Abstract: In this paper, we describe the development of a personalhealth telemonitoring application which is integrated into the Internet television based home communication environment The application presently enables monitoring of blood pressure and body weight and supports on-line medical interviews We present the functionality of this application Its key feature is the user interface, manageable by a simple TV remote-control The implementation results in a software widget, which is installed in a net-top-box It builds the user interface, provides monitoring of measurement devices and communications with the backend systems We conducted an evaluation of the overall user experience, which shows very encouraging scores Beside this, the application enables personal-health service that is comparable to the one, provided by dedicated personalhealth systems At the same time, its open architecture allows for future extensions and simple inclusion of other health monitoring areas
TL;DR: In this paper, a software widget is a component of a graphical mashup, the widget is completely defined using a single file, and the single file specifies both source data and presentation of the source data.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products simplify widgets for graphical mashups, such as digital dashboards and other user interfaces. When a software widget is a component of a graphical mashup, the widget is completely defined using a single file. The single file specifies both source data and presentation of the source data. Because the widget is completely defined by the single file, the single file allows faster processing of the widget.
