TL;DR: A new snakefly species of the family InoCelliidae is described from China: Inocellia occidentalis sp.
Abstract: A new snakefly species of the family Inocelliidae is described from China: Inocellia occidentalis sp. nov. The new species belongs to the Inocellia crassicornis species group.
TL;DR: Two new snakefly species of the family Raphidiidae are described from China and biogeographical considerations on secondary refugial centers of the large Sino-Tibetan primary center are presented.
Abstract: Two new snakefly species of the family Raphidiidae are described from China: Mongoloraphidia lini sp. nov. and Mongoloraphidia triangulata sp. nov. Biogeographical considerations on secondary refugial centers of the large Sino-Tibetan primary center are presented.
TL;DR: The male of the new species is characterized in the genitalia by the presence of a membranous, short and digitiform gonostylus 9, the gonarcus (fused gonocoxites 11) subtriangular in caudal view dorsally with a pair of short tubercular processes, and the reduction of bristle tuft on the endophallus.
Abstract: The holometabolous order Raphidioptera is recorded from Xizang Autonomous Region for the first time. A new species of the family Inocelliidae, Inocellia tibetana sp. nov., from southeastern Xizang is described and its two sexes illustrated. Based on the male gonocoxite 9 that is longer than width of its base, the new species belongs to the I. fulvostigmata species-group, and it appears to be closely related to I. fulvostigmata U. Aspock, Rausch H. Aspock, 1968. Both species are distributed near the southern edge of the Himalayas. The male of the new species is characterized in the genitalia by the presence of a membranous, short and digitiform gonostylus 9, the gonarcus (fused gonocoxites 11) subtriangular in caudal view dorsally with a pair of short tubercular processes, and the reduction of bristle tuft on the endophallus.
TL;DR: Four new species of snakefly (Raphidioptera: Mesoraphidiidae) are described from the Lower Cretaceous Purbeck Limestone Group, southern England, increasing the number of described snakeflies from the Mesozoic deposits of Britain from two to five species, when the doubtful family Priscaenigmatidae is excluded.
TL;DR: A virtually complete specimen of the family Mesoraphidiidae is described as Cantabroraphidia marcanoi n.
Abstract: A virtually complete specimen of the family Mesoraphidiidae (Insecta: Raphidioptera) is described as Cantabroraphidia marcanoi n. gen., n. sp. It was found in early Albian amber from a new deposit named El Soplao within the Las Penosas Fm. in northwestern Cantabria (Spain). It has been compared to all adult fossils placed in the Mesozoic family Mesoraphidiidae. Some taxonomical comments are provided, and we propose to restore the genus Yanoraphidia Ren 1995 and the combination Yanoraphidia gaoi Ren 1995 stat. rest., provisionally retained in the family Mesoraphidiidae.
