Abstract: A system and method for data storage by shredding and deshredding of the data allows for various combinations of processing of the data to provide various resultant storage of the data. Data storage and retrieval functions include various combinations of data redundancy generation, data compression and decompression, data encryption and decryption, and data integrity by signature generation and verification. Data shredding is performed by shredders and data deshredding is performed by deshredders that have some implementations that allocate processing internally in the shredder and deshredder either in parallel to multiple processors or sequentially to a single processor. Other implementations use multiple processing through multi-level shredders and deshredders. Redundancy generation includes implementations using non-systematic encoding, systematic encoding, or a hybrid combination. Shredder based tag generators and deshredder based tag readers are used in some implementations to allow the deshredders to adapt to various versions of the shredders.
TL;DR: In this paper, a piston-and-cylinder retarder delays the switch opening of a switch actuated by a sensor in the path of paper introduced through the paper feed shaft or chute of a paper shredder, thereby eliminating the need for more expensive and complex electronic time-delay systems to ensure that the shredding unit remains switched on until the trailing edge of the paper passes it.

TL;DR: In this article, a dual-functional medium shredding machine is proposed for shredding or destroying paper printed with data to be destroyed, optical discs containing data to destroy, or expired credit cards.
Abstract: This invention is related to a dual-functional medium shredding machine structure, specifically designed for shredding or destroying paper printed with data to be destroyed, optical discs containing data to be destroyed, or expired credit cards. This invention mainly implements a pair of shredding roller blades with sharp teeth as shredding means, and is characterized by providing separate feeding inports, including a paper inport for feeding paper in an inclined orientation, and a disc inport for feeding discs in a vertical orientation, wherein the inports are each led to the same shredding roller blades such that, regardless of the type of substance being fed by the user, the paper or the discs can both be shredded by the shredding roller blades, and the shredded scraps are dispensed to separate collectors through an identical exit by means of an auto-revolving switch plate; and a touch switch at each of the inports such that, while feeding the paper or the discs, the touch switch activates the shredding roller blades to perform shredding task, and drives the switch plate so as to dispense shredded scraps of different substance into different collectors.
TL;DR: In this paper, a method of disinfecting medical materials, which comprises heating medical materials and exposing the medical materials to gamma radiation, is provided, and the starting material consists of pre-sorted medical or veterinary waste, the method further comprises shredding the irradiated waste and recycling the shredded waste.
Abstract: A method of disinfecting medical materials, which comprises heating medical materials and exposing the medical materials to gamma radiation, is provided. One method of heating is the application of radio-frequency waves. The medical materials are subjected to radio-frequency waves for at least approximately 5 minutes and to gamma radiation measuring at least approximately 0.25 Mrads. When the starting material consists of pre-sorted medical or veterinary waste, the method further comprises shredding the irradiated waste and recycling the shredded waste.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a paper document disposal system that allows both appropriate and efficient disposal of paper documents without regard to whether the paper documents to be disposed require security measures or not.
Abstract: In the disposal device for paper documents according to the present invention, the feeding of paper that is to be disposed can be done either automatically with a feeding unit or manually from a manual inlet. Therefore, the disposal of sensitive paper documents can be carried out sheet by sheet by placing the paper on the automatic paper feed unit while paper documents which do not require any security measures may be manually fed into the disposal device for an immediate shredding process. Therefore, the present invention allows both appropriate and efficient disposal of paper documents without regard to whether the paper documents to be disposed require security measures or not.
