TL;DR: This chapter discusses central aspects of what elements of the phonological representation are influenced by phrase structure?
Abstract: Phonological structure is sensitive to syntactic phrase structure. This chapter discusses central aspects of this relation: What elements of the phonological representation are influenced by phrase structure? How are they influenced? How does focus affect prosody? What role does the distinction between lexical and functional elements play? A recurring theme will be the role of syntactic XPs in shaping the important layer of p-phrases in different ways. Section 18.2 identifies prosodic structure above the word level, including the p-phrase. Section 18.3 reviews evidence for edge-alignment of the p-phrase with syntactic XPs. Section 18.4 discusses the further requirement that XPs be fully contained inside p-phrases. Sections 18.5 and 18.6 seek to connect the literature on prosodic phonology of the preceding sections with the literature on phrasal stress: Section 18.5 identifies the main influence of focus on stress, and Section 18.6 tries to show that the additional influence of syntax on stress is also defined in terms of XPs. Section 18.7 addresses the distinction between lexical and functional projections in the syntax–phonology interface. Section 18.8 discusses eurhythmic influences on prosodic structure. Section 18.9 addresses the dependency of intonation phrases on root clauses. Section 18.10 sums up the results.

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of speech information generated for each text section is configured to be used by a speech synthesizer to translate the text section into speech in a distinguishing computer-generated voice for the author of the text sections.
Abstract: A method for providing information to generate distinguishing voices for text content attributable to different authors includes receiving a plurality of text sections each attributable to one of a plurality of authors; identifying which author authored each text section; assigning a unique voice tag id to each author; associating a distinct set of descriptive metadata with each unique voice tag id; and generating a set of speech information for each text section. The set of speech information generated for each text section is based upon the distinct set of descriptive metadata associated with the unique voice tag id assigned to the corresponding author of the text section. The set of speech information generated for each text section is configured to be used by a speech synthesizer to translate the text section into speech in a distinguishing computer-generated voice for the author of the text section.

Abstract: A system for managing data includes providing at least one logical device having a table of information that maps sections of the logical device to sections of at least two storage areas. Characteristics of data associated with at least one section of the logical device may be evaluated. The at least one section of the data may moved between the at least two storage areas according to a policy and based on the characteristics of the data. The table of information is updated according to the movement of data between the at least two storage areas.

TL;DR: In this paper, a sort key is generated that includes a document identifier that indicates whether a section of a document associated with the sort key was an anchor text section or a context section, wherein the anchor text sections and the context text sections have the same document identifier.
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for indexing data. For each token in a set of documents, a sort key is generated that includes a document identifier that indicates whether a section of a document associated with the sort key is an anchor text section or a context section, wherein the anchor text section and the context text section have a same document identifier; it is determined whether a data field associated with the token is a fixed width; when the data field is a fixed width, the token is designated as one for which fixed width sort is to be performed; and, when the data field is a variable length, the token is designated as one for which a variable width sort is to be performed. The fixed width sort and the variable width sort are performed. For each document, the sort keys are used to bring together the anchor text section and the context section of that document.

TL;DR: A system and method for facilitating the processing and the use of documents by providing a system for categorizing document section headings under a set of canonical headings is described in this article.
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating the processing and the use of documents by providing a system for categorizing document section headings under a set of canonical section headings. In the method for categorizing section headings, there may be a process of training a database and matching methods to categorize different but equivalent document section headings under canonical headings and categories. Once trained, the system may match and categorize the document sections with little to no supervision of the categorization for large sets of documents.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for unifying styles of documents of an image file form without enforcing a job load associated with style edit of the documents on an operator. SOLUTION: A control section 11 separately extracts data associated with document styles (style data) and data associated with contents of the document (contents data) from read document image data. Then the control section 11 revises style data of a plurality of documents into style data representing the same style. For example, the styles of the style data of the documents are unified into the style of the document read first by a read section 13, under the assumption that the document read at first is printed on one side of paper of the size A4 printed for horizontal printing in 2up print, the font of the title is Gothic style, a size of 12 point and the font of the main text is Mincho type, a size of 10 point. The control section 11 rewrites the style data of the other documents into the same as those above. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a network facsimile apparatus, which makes it possible to quickly complete the transmitting operation of reserved image data whose transmission is temporarily suspended due to the BUSY status of the receiver side.
Abstract: There is described a network facsimile apparatus, which makes it possible to quickly complete the transmitting operation of reserved image data whose transmission is temporarily suspended due to the BUSY status of the receiver side, etc. The apparatus, serving as a caller that conducts image data communicating operations with other apparatuses serving as callees based on a Session Initiation Protocol, includes a control section to suspend an operation for transmitting image data to the first callee; a storage section to store the first IP address of the first callee; a network interface control section; and a comparing section to compare the first IP address with the second IP address. When the control section determines that the first IP address and the second IP address coincide with each other, the control section transmits the reserved image data, transmission of which is currently suspended, to the second callee.
