TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a data entry device with multifunction keys (14, 32) with a primary function for the entry of numerical data and at least one secondary function for alphabetic characters.
Abstract: The data entry device has multifunction keys (14, 32) with a primary function for the entry of numerical data and at least one secondary function for the entry of alphabetic characters. The device is operated with a single hand and does not require the use of a shift or a function key thereby keeping the number of keys to a minimum and avoiding visual clutter. The multifunction keys have a primary actuator (120) located at the center of the key and at least one secondary actuator (225) located at the edge of the key such that a vertical pressing of the key actuates the primary actuator and a pressing on the edge of the key causes the actuation of the secondary actuator.
TL;DR: A keyboard system has a geometric arrangement enriched in intersections of three keys achieved by offsetting or staggering adjacent keys This provides a greater number of choices from a given number of keys actuable manually one, two or three at a time The key layout permits touch typing with one hand where twelve keys provide fill alphanumeric capabilities Finger positions conform with human hand structure and include raised ridges for identifying some of the fingerstroke key selection locations as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A keyboard system has a keyboard geometric arrangement enriched in intersections of three keys achieved by offsetting or staggering adjacent keys This provides a greater number of choices from a given number of keys actuable manually one, two or three at a time The key layout permits touch typing with one hand where twelve keys provides fill alphanumeric capabilities Finger positions conform with human hand structure and include raised ridges for identifying some of the fingerstroke key selection locations Thus, accurate high speed typing with either hand is feasible in a telephone dial space frame The keyboard communicates by an X by Y communication channel matrix or telephone system compatible tone signals with computers, telephones, teletypes and like utility devices Program steps and function selection is afforded by a self-cataloged two (or more) keystroke sequence to reduce programming time and increase the number of selections possible per key Thus, as few as four keys and four wires can afford fourteen manual selections by a single fingerstroke in a single live key mode This application is a continuation of Ser No 06/528,975 filed Sept 2, 1983, now abandoned, which is a continuation-in-part of Ser No 493,613 filed May 11, 1983, now abandoned, for Contoured Touch Type Data Processing Keyboard
TL;DR: In this paper, a system, method and computer useable medium are introduced that increase the efficiency in which a user can interface, through keys prediction, with a system that includes a touch screen display, a computer usable medium; having a computer readable instructions for controlling a computer, a processor, and a predictive algorithm.
Abstract: In the embodiments of the present invention, a system, method and computer useable medium are introduced that increase the efficiency in which a user can interface, through keys prediction, with a system that includes a touch screen display, a computer usable medium; having a computer readable instructions for controlling a computer, a computer processor, and a predictive algorithm. This method provides the user with the ability to quickly identify and select, through the enhanced keys prediction, and display the keys of the cell phone or electronic media. The keys include but are not limited to, icons, numbers, symbols and their combinations. In addition, the computer processor and the predictive algorithm, using the keys that are inputted through the touch screen or keypad, anticipate the icons, numbers and symbols necessary to complete the interface request resulting in increase user efficiency.
TL;DR: In this paper, a keyboard is proposed having a small number of keys labeled with different functional labels as the user proceeds through a menu or tree structure containing all the desired functions, and the keys in a certain group of keys on the keyboard are thereby subject to redefinition or relabeling so as to provide a variety of functions.
Abstract: Calculator having a keyboard in which one or more keys have labels created by a display and subject to changing interactively as the user desires. Typically, advanced scientific-programmable calculators may have too many functions to be adequately included on the keys of the keyboard associated therewith. In such calculators, certain functions require a plurality of keys to be actuated in order to be performed. Thus, such keyboards tend to be cluttered an confusing to the user. Thus, a keyboard is proposed having a small number of keys labeled with different functional labels as the user proceeds through a menu or tree structure containing all the desired functions. Keys in a certain group of keys on the keyboard are thereby subject to redefinition or relabeling so as to provide a variety of functions.
TL;DR: In this paper, a keyboard with multi-function keys installed nearby the space bar to make it very convenient to use is described. And the keyboard incorporates a finger-print-identification function device to identify the user.
Abstract: This invention relates to a keyboard with multi-function keys are installed nearby the space bar to make it very convenient to use. The keyboard incorporates the multi-function keys, such as a scroll-control-ball which can move the screen from various directions, an up-down-left-right keys to control the position of the cursor, editing functions keys which provide such functions as cut, copy, paste, mark, recovery, scroll page, insert and delete to enable speedy editing. In addition to the above-mentioned function keys, the multi-function keys comprise a finger-print-identification function device to identify the user. Furthermore, the multi-function keys further comprise a liquid crystal display light to show the status of the numeral and upper and lower case.
