TL;DR: In this article, a scabbard for sheathing an intermediate force weapon such as an expandable tactical baton was designed such that it may be worn on the belt of law enforcement personnel in a position permitting a quick draw of the baton to a ready position.
Abstract: A scabbard for sheathing an intermediate force weapon such as an expandable tactical baton includes a front pocket for holding the baton when in the retracted position and rear pocket for holding the baton when in the fully extended, expanded position. The scabbard is designed such that it may be worn on the belt of law enforcement personnel in a position permitting a quick draw of the baton to a ready position whether or not the baton is contracted or expanded. A unidirectional fastener is utilized to guard against accidental release of the scabbard from the belt when the scabbard is properly installed and properly utilized by law enforcement personnel.
TL;DR: A scabbard for mounting a long-gun is a one-piece, rigid cover having an enclosed bottom end, an open top end, and two generally parallel sides separated by a back.
Abstract: A scabbard for mounting a long gun, includes: a one-piece, rigid cover having an enclosed bottom end, an open top end, and two generally parallel sides separated by a back; a padded, protective lining attached to the rigid cover; an attachment mechanism for removably attaching the scabbard; a detachable strap attached to a top open end of the device for closely holding the gun barrel, and a barrier across an open front of the scabbard for holding in the gun butt. The scabbard preferably has a padlock for locking down the gun barrel. The scabbard may have a locking hinged lid mechanism instead of a strap and barrier. The scabbard can be mounted vertically, horizontally or diagonally, preferably in or on a vehicle. A method for making the scabbard is also included.
TL;DR: A baton scabbard for stowing various length batons enables insertion into and removal of a baton from the scabbards through lateral movement of the baton.
Abstract: A baton scabbard for stowing various length batons enables insertion into and removal of a baton from the scabbard through lateral movement of the baton. The scabbard includes a generally C-shaped housing that supports a pair of laterally spaced snap-action latching mechanisms mutually cooperable in response to entry of a baton to effect a snap-action retention of the baton within the housing. A belt or strap attachment is pivotally connected to the housing for attaching the scabbard to a user's belt and permits the housing and a baton held therein to be selectively oriented relative to the user irrespective of the length of the baton.
