TL;DR: In this paper, a pair of circumferentially mating mold elements engage the tread area of a tire to be retreaded, and the inner pressure chamber or chambers are pressurized to a pressure equal to the internal pressure.
Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for bonding and shaping retread stock to a tire casing. A pair of circumferentially mating mold elements engage the tread area of a tire to be retreaded. The mols are divided along a horizontal mating plane and are supported in aligned relationship within a pair of substantially hemispherical pressure chamber members adapted for closing and opening about the tire. Centering plates are provided to locate the tire concentrically within the mold and to form an internal pressure chamber within the tire. The internal pressure chamber is pressurized forcing the tire against the mold elements. Subsequently the outer chamber or chambers are pressurized to a pressure equal to the internal pressure. The centering or bead plates are then displaced from engagement with the tire. Heat is applied for bonding and shaping the tread stock to the tire casing.
TL;DR: It is found that best results for recycling are achieved, if the legislation sets quantitative targets and clearly defines waste status of tyres to maximise local reuse/retread in the case of waste tyres.
TL;DR: An approach based on Bayesian networks is proposed as a tool for decision making support in tire retreading process and provides a good basis when it comes to making a decision whether to retread or not a used tire.
Abstract: Problem of waste treatment is very important for environment and the share of tires in this scope is high. The aim of this paper is to analyse retreading as one very interesting way of tires’ treatment. In practice, firms involved with commercial vehicles exploitation have to decide whether to retread used tires or not, depending on the number of retreadings of used tires and travelled distances after each retreading. An approach based on Bayesian networks is proposed as a tool for decision making support in tire retreading process. Analysis is performed on database of tires’ exploitation from a company of public passenger transportation and the statistical results are used as inputs to the proposed model. The results obtained according to the proposed model provide a good basis when it comes to making a decision whether to retread or not a used tire.
TL;DR: In this paper, a precure tread for a tire has surface grooves facing a tread face, rear groves facing a crown portion of a base tire, and a passage for communication between the rear grooves to atmosphere.
Abstract: A precure tread for a tire has surface grooves facing a tread face, rear grooves facing a crown portion of a base tire, and a passage for communication between the rear grooves to atmosphere. The groove bottom of the rear grooves is located at a higher level than a groove bottom of the surface groove in the radial direction. The tire durability can be considerably improved when this precure tread is applied to a new tire or a retreaded tire.
TL;DR: A generation ago, American state and local experiments with worker and community ownership appeared unsuccessful as mentioned in this paper, and their current revival offer anything new to the field of economic development. But their current experiment may not offer any new solutions.
