Port expansion adapter for video game port

[...]

George H. Dell
27 Jun 1984
TL;DR: In this article, a game port expander for a video game input port includes a plurality of first multi-pin ports respectively connectable to four different game controllers, and a second multinode port connectable with the input port of a game controller.
Abstract: A game port expander for a video game input port includes a plurality of first multi-pin ports respectively connectable to four different game controllers, and a second multi-pin port connectable to the input port of a video game. Each game controller has a "fire control" switch which is connected to a selected pin of the corresponding first port for applying a signal to that port when the switch is actuated. That signal is converted by a decimal-to-binary converter to a binary representation of that first port which is applied to the inputs of a two-bit IC latch. The switch signal is also applied through an OR gate to an RC timing circuit which activates the latch after the signal is present for a predetermined time, to actuate an IC switching circuit which provides an interconnection between predetermined terminals of the second port and the corresponding terminals of the selected one first port.

Abstract: arose quite naturally . ut of the fact that the focus of most historians was the Euro-Asian trade in high value goods, with the intra-Asian trade heing dealt with only insofar as was necessary to understand its Euro-Asian counterpart. Even in more recent years, when this essentially Eurocentric vision has given way to the study of Asian trade for its own sake, the emphasis on pepper, exotic spices, silks and rich textiles has to some extent remained. The humbler commodities that formed the real staple on which the warp and weft of Asian trade in ;h. sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were spun,

TL;DR: In this article, an improved multiple port memory system has a priority network for selecting between multiple units seeking access to the ports and provides encoded port identifying signals indicative of the port to have access.
Abstract: An improved multiple port memory system has a priority network for selecting between multiple units seeking access thereto. The priority network responds to requests for access and provides encoded port identifying signals indicative of the port to have access. Decode circuitry decodes the encoded port identifying signals and provides unique port enabling signals for the selected port. Decode error detection circuitry responds to the decoded port enabling signals and provides a decode error indication any time multiple port enabling signals are detected as occurring simultaneously. Port Code error detecting circuitry respond to the encoded port identifying signals and the decoded port enabling signals to provide a code error indicating signal when a port code error condition is detected.

TL;DR: In this paper, an internal plate assembly for a heat exchanger comprising a plate and a pair of substantially identical inserts is presented, where each manifold area of the plate is provided with two ports.
Abstract: An internal plate assembly for a heat exchanger comprising a plate and a pair of substantially identical inserts. The plate is formed with a manifold area at opposite ends. A pair of wall members and a plurality of fins extending therebetween. Each manifold area of the plate is provided with two ports. A flat identical insert is provided for each manifold area. The insert has one port for mating with one of the ports in the manifold area of the plate and is formed to avoid covering the other port in that same manifold area. Thus, it is possible to construct a multi-plate stacked heat exchanger utilizing parts having only two distinct configurations.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to suppress ascending of high-temperature warm air and help to reach the high temperature warm air to a distant place along the floor surface of a room in order to reduce a temperature difference between the upper and lower parts of the room.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress ascending of high-temperature warm air and help to reach the high-temperature warm air to a distant place along the floor surface of a room in order to reduce a temperature difference between the upper and lower parts of the room by a method wherein first and second blow-off ports are provided with first and second louvers, regulating the blow-off direction of warm air respectively, and the first louver is permitted to change the angle thereof CONSTITUTION:A part of indoor air, sucked from a suction port 2 provided at the back surface of a casing 1, is changed to a high-temperature air by a combustion unit 13 and is blown off downward obliquely from the second blow-off port 8 The balance of the indoor air passes through an air path 11, heated through a partitioning plate 10, is changed to slightly heated air and is blown off downward obliquely from the first blow-off port 9 The angle of the first louver 15 is set so that the blow-off angle of high-temperature warm-air of the second blow-off port 8 is smaller than the blow-off angle of low-temperature warm air blown off from the first blow-off port 9 by 5-25 deg Accordingly, the low-temperature warm air, blown off from the first blow-off port 9, suppresses the ascending of the high-temperature warm-air blown off from the second blow-off port 8 and, whereby, the high-temperature warm-air may be reached to a distant place along the floor surface of the room

Abstract: A 16 x 16 port wideband Butler matrix comprises cascaded stages A, B, C, D of four-port power dividers each divider having a fixed phase difference of either 90 DEG or 180 DEG between its output ports, the first and last stages each having eight such dividers. TL;DR: In this article, Egloff, of the Tasmanian National Parks and Wildlife Service, examines the subject of cultural resource management, in the light of his experiences as manager of the Port Arthur Conservation Project.
Abstract: The following is a rewritten version ofa paper that was presented at the Second Annual Conference ofthe Australian Society for Historical Archaeology, held in Sydney in October 1982. In this paper Brian Egloff, of the Tasmanian National Parks and Wildlife Service, examines the subject of cultural resource management, in the light of his experiences as manager of the Port Arthur Conservation Project. He demonstrates that cultural resource management involves collaboration between a number of disciplines, of which archaeology is only one. Participants in conservation projects like that at Port Arthur need special skills and experience that differ from those of their academic colleagues. They also need to work within a management framework that will vary from project to project and should indeed be specially designed to suit each individual case.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of the port component of the United States grain export system was conducted and a transshipment model was used to evaluate the adequacy of the current port system.
Abstract: An analysis is conducted on the port component of the United States grain export system. A transshipment model is utilized which covers both United States internal and foreign shipments of corn, soybeans, and wheat during the four quarters of a year. The model suggests that there will be quarter to quarter constraints on port capacity but that annual capacity is adequate. Through sensitivity analysis a number of key factors were found which influence the adequacy of the current port system. Port adequacy is found to depend not as much on export market location as it does on domestic transportation rates and policies. In the last ten years there has been a significant upward trend in the volume of international trade in grains and soybeans, with exports from the United States more than doubling. Rising exports have at times brought about problems in the grain handling system, such as the rail car shortages of the 1970s and occasional congestion in the river system. Difficulties have also been encountered at ports because of delays in transferring grain from rail cars and barges onto ships (Fuller et al.). The severity of these problems has varied over geographic areas. Most have been associated with
