Abstract: Pipes (including soft types) are relined internally by coating with a plastic repair tube which consists of an outer plastic film, a reinforcing core and (if desired) an innermost plastic film; the process follows testing for the size and inspecting the pipe. The size and renforcement of the liner are chosen to match the i.d. of the pipe; the reinforcing core is impregnated in thermosetting resin under vacuum whilstsqueezing the composite material in the resin and (if necessary) evacuating the space between the outer films; the repair tube is mechanically drawn into and pressed against the pipe by means of gas pressure; and curing the impregnating resin e.g. by irradiating with a robot, checking the temp. and pressure (plus composition if necessary) of the emerging gas.
