TL;DR: The present study aims to review the genus Acrotaphus, and includes descriptions of 15 new species, and presents new characters for the study of the genus and describes the male genitalia for the first time.
Abstract: Acrotaphus Townes, 1960 is a moderately large New World genus of spider attacking parasitoid wasps. Previously, it comprised 11 species. The present study aims to review the genus, and includes descriptions of 15 new species: A. amajari sp. n., A. amazonicus sp. n., A. bodoquenaensis sp. n., A. cuzconus sp. n., A. dolichopus sp. n., A. homeofranklini sp. n., A. jackiechani sp. n., A. kourou sp. n., A. micrus sp. n., A. monotaenius sp. n., A. nambilloensis sp. n., A. pseudoamazonicus sp. n., A. pseudomexicanus sp. n., A. venezuelanus sp. n. and A. zampieronae sp. n.. In addition, we present new characters for the study of the genus and describe the male genitalia for the first time. An illustrated key and maps to the species of the genus are provided. Acrotaphus franklini Gauld, 1991 and A. pseudoamazonicus sp. n. were recorded from the nests of Trypoxylon (Trypargilum) lactitarse Saussure, 1867 (Hymenoptera: Crabronidae).
TL;DR: Females of three species, Cestrus tenuiventris (Cresson), Mallochia macula Kasparyan Ruíz-Cancino (Cryptinae), and Phytodietus moragai Gauld (Tryphoninae) are recorded and described for the first time.
Abstract: Based on a large quantity ichneumonid material collected mainly from the Mexican states of Veracruz and Quintana Roo, faunistic records of 79 species belonging to subfamilies Acaenitinae, Banchinae, Cryptinae, Cylloceriinae, Labeninae, Lycorininae, Microleptinae, Pimplinae, Tersilochinae, and Tryphoninae are provided. Three species are described as new to science: Latosculum ortegai Kasparyan Khalaim, sp. nov. (Cryptinae), Eusterinx madorae Khalaim Kasparyan, sp. nov. (Microleptinae) and Neotheronia veracruzana Khalaim, sp. nov. (Pimplinae). Two genera, Nipponaetes Uchida (Cryptinae) and Meggoleus Townes (Tersilochinae), and six species, Nipponaetes hansoni (Gauld) (Cryptinae), Lycorina moralesi Gauld (Lycorininae), Neotheronia murilloi Gauld (Pimplinae), Meggoleus pampahermosensis Alvarado (Tersilochinae), Phytodietus moragai Gauld, and Zagryphys zulaya Gauld (Tryphoninae), are first records from Mexico. Females of three species, Cestrus tenuiventris (Cresson), Mallochia macula Kasparyan Ruiz-Cancino (Cryptinae), and Phytodietus moragai Gauld (Tryphoninae), are recorded and described for the first time.
TL;DR: The British Pimplinae are revised, and illustrated keys are provided for their identification, and details of known distribution and biology in Britain are summarised.
Abstract: The British Pimplinae are revised, and illustrated keys are provided for their identification. For each species details of known distribution and biology in Britain are summarised. This treatment is supplemented by a checklist, notes on techniques and the systematics of Pimplinae, and a general review of the biology of the subfamily. One new genus and 2 new species are described and there are taxonomic and nomenclatural changes which affect a further 18 species. Endromopoda, previously a subgenus of Scambus, is treated as a genus; new combinations include E. detrita comb. nov. and E. nigricoxis comb. nov. (which were synonymized previously). Pimpla instigator is synonymized with P. hypochondriaca.
TL;DR: Two morphologically very distinctive species of the genus Xanthopimpla Saussure, one of the largest genera of the family Ichneumonidae, are described and illustrated and a revised key to the Neotropical species of this genus is provided.
Abstract: Xanthopimpla Saussure, 1892 is one of the largest genera of the family Ichneumonidae. Th e genus is very species rich in Indo-Australia but poorly represented in the Neotropical region. In this paper two morphologically very distinctive species of the genus, X. amazonica sp. n. Gomez, Saaksjarvi & Veijalainen, and X. jussilai sp. n. Veijalainen, Saaksjarvi & Broad, are described and illustrated. Th e new species have been collected in the Peruvian and Ecuadorean Amazonia. A revised key to the Neotropical species of the genus is provided. Xanthopimpla aurita Krieger is recorded for the fitime from Peru.
