Abstract: In a new institution, planning a Macintosh network proceeded in step with planning a campus and a library building. The initial installation connected twenty-five Macintosh and DOS computers, and four network printers using Farallon Computing PhoneNet system LocalTalk hubs, wiring, and connectors. After three years of growth, the network consists of over fifty devices, including servers, netmodem, router, and Internet gateway. Migration toward individual microcomputer connections to Ethernet and CD-ROM servers is under development.
