Abstract: Technological developments have a wide impact on many things, one of which is the development of communication through social networking. The interesting thing about the Facebook phenomenon is that most of the users are women. Women who are identical with polite behavior are very interesting to study. This study aims to (1) Identify the form of women’s phatic speech acts on Facebook. (2) Describe the politeness strategy of women’s communication on Facebook, (3) to dig deeper into the extent of women politeness in Facebook through the humanistic teaching p er spective. This research is descriptive qualitative research using pragmatic approach. The subjects of the study were women aged 25-50 years. Data is female speech on Facebook social networking. Data selection is done with certain consideration using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a method of referring and noting to a number of speeches containing a form of phatic expression. Test the validity of data is done through credibility test that is by extension of observation and member check. Data analysis was done based on Spradley's analysis model which was divided into 4 stages, namely domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, contextual analysis and cultural theme analysis. The results achieved are: (1) The form of phatic expressions seen from the analysis of speech acts in which the act of speech phatic ranked highest. (2) The characteristics of visible women language are, using polite expression, using indirect sentences, using adjectives, using question tags and humor. (3) The dominant function of the phatic is to maintain friendship and harmony of relationships. (4) Internet-based communication media provide flexibility for women to interact and establish relationships. (5) phatic communication on Facebook becomes dominant because the form of communication is not face to face directly so that the expression of the speaker cannot be seen and the comments that appear cannot be determined time so that the honesty of the less acceptable speech. This has a tendency as a form of introducing space. The women communication in Facebook through the phatic speech acts can be a source of learning approach to be polite in uttering utterances.

Abstract: Good, true, and polite personality expressions reflect one's noble character. The use of the phrase when one is expressing the intent to others, should be conveyed in polite form. This politeness is reflected in the use of expressions in communication. This research aimed to identify the forms, use, and local wisdom of expression phatic opening and closing the conversation in the Java community, especially in the area of Surakarta. The research shows that variations in the forms of expression of phatic. This expression aims to start a conversation, ask permission, refine the command, grateful, subtle rejection, words of sympathy, and apologized. The result showed that in order to establish harmony in their interaction in the community and as a form of politeness, found various expressions phatic in the Java community, especially in the area of Surakarta is an expression sugeng rawuh, kula nuwun, matur nuwun, nyuwun tulung, nyuwun pangapunten, mangga, kados pundi, sugeng ...atau wilujeng ..., katuran pinarak, ndherek bingah, and ndherek belasungkawa.

Abstract: This research studies phatic particles translation from Indonesian to Arabic. The discussed translation here includes phatic expression equivalence and translation and form shift. The aim of the study is to analyse the equivalence of phatic expression from Indonesian to Arabic and to look over shift of translation and form so the message from source language is delivered reasonably to target language. The method applied in the study is qualitative descriptive. 105 data were gathered from a webtoon entitled “Flawless” episode 1-10, in Indonesian and Arabic version. To analyse the data, theory of phatic particles in Indonesian from Kridalaksana (1994) is employed. From 105 data, only 24 data were analyzed. The analysis shows that the phatic articles are not completely translated. There are some articles translated accordingly, and some are translated into other forms or absorbed the sound phonetically. There are 7 untranslated particles; 13 translated according their phatic functions; 2 translated into other forms; and 2 absorbed phonetically.

Abstract: The indirect expression of intention in the Javanese culture-based speech community requires the speaker and the hearer to understand the importance of contexts in communication. Failure to understand the context of interaction will definitely impede communication and interaction, or even worse it may cause misunderstanding in the communication and interaction process. In the Javanese speech community, people may say ‘ mboten ’ or ‘no’ without intending to negate or to express falsity. On the contrary, people may say ‘ inggih ’ or ‘yes’ which does not necessarily mean to affirm or to express an assertion. Therefore, it is clear that in the Javanese speech community, the extralinguistic contexts in the communication is very important and defines the purpose of utterances. Based on the research background, the research on extralinguistic contexts to determine the meaning of ‘ mboten ’ was carried out. The objective of the research was to elaborate the extralinguistic contexts which determine the meaning of ‘ mboten .’ The data consists of excerpts containing Javanese phatic ‘ mboten ’. The technique of collecting data was recording and note-taking. Besides, interview or speaking method was employed to gather the data. The data analysis was done using the distributional and content analysis methods. This research results in five functions of extralinguistic contexts to determine the meaning of the utterance. The five functions are: (1) the extralinguistic contexts to affirm the intention of negation; (2) the extralinguistic context as the background of negation; (3) the extralinguistic contexts to confirm the meaning of negation; (4) the extralinguistic contexts to affirm the intention of negation; (5) the extralinguistic contexts to affirm the phatic function. The result of the research is very important and contributes significantly to the development of linguistics, especially the development of pragmatics embedded in culture-specific concepts. Abstract: The purposes of this research are to describe the linguistics form, the intention of the speaker and the politeness strategies of phatic expression in sense and sensibility novel. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The object of the study is phatic expression in sense and sensibility novel. The source of the data is sense and sensibility novel Austen. The techniques for data analysis are describing the data (phatic expression) in its linguistic form by employing the sentence theory, describing the intention of the speaker of phatic expression employed in novel by using speech act theory and cooperative principle, describing the politeness strategies of phatic expression used in the sense and sensibility novel by using context of speech and politeness pattern.
The writer finds that from 25 data there are 16 sentence of declarative, 2 sentence of imperative, and 7 sentence of interrogative,. The intention of phatic there are to build the conversation, to know someone condition, to make teasing word more polite, affirmation, greeting, sympathy, to breakdown the silence, comments on something, and to reduce the awkward situation. The last all of politeness strategies used in sense and sensibility novel.
