TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for displaying a uniform network resource locator embedded in a time-based medium is presented, where the user is then allowed to activate the embedded uniform network locator in response to activation by the user.
Abstract: A system and method are provided for displaying a uniform network resource locator embedded in a time-based medium In one embodiment, the time-based medium can be a movie file having an uniform network resource locator embedded by association with a track in the movie file In another embodiment, the time-based medium can be a video signal having encoded information defining an embedded uniform network resource locator An output for display is generated based upon the time-based medium where display of the output shows the embedded uniform network resource locator to a user such that the embedded uniform network resource locator is active during display of the output The user is then allowed to activate the embedded uniform network resource locator In response to activation by the user, the embedded uniform network resource locator is followed to retrieve a resource addressed by the embedded uniform network resource locator
TL;DR: This document specifies a minimum set of requirements for a kind of Internet resource identifier known as Uniform Resource Names (URNs) and provides information for the Internet community.

TL;DR: In this article, a machine-readable printed symbol can be a bar code or in the form obtainable with any other printed encoding technology which encodes digital information in printed form so that it can be electronically read.
Abstract: Access to data resources on data communications networks is simplified by encoding data resource identifiers into a machine-readable printed symbol which can be scanned into a computer-based data communications terminal. The machine-readable printed symbol can be a bar code or in the form obtainable with any other printed encoding technology which encodes digital information in printed form so that it can be electronically read. Once the symbolic representation of the data resource specifier is read into the computer, software running on the computer can use a data resource identifier to access internet resources. Various features are directed to compressing the size of the data resource identifier to fit within a short symbol such as a bar code on a business card.
TL;DR: In this article, a method, system and computer-readable medium is described that provides one or more types of services and/or information (400) in response to an information request or other message (450,490) that specifies a unique identifer of a defined type.
Abstract: A method, system and computer-readable medium is described that provides one or more types of services and/or information (400) in response to an information request or other message (450,490) that specifies a unique identifer of a defined type. The information requests (450,490) can include requests for resources corresponding to specified U RLs with domain names that include a unique identifier, and if so the service or information provided (400) can be based on the defined type of the identifier and/or on an item corresponding to the unique identifier. Additional information included in header fields of HTTP messages used for such URL requests (450,490) can also be used to determine services or information to be provided, either instead of or in addition to the specified domain name identifier. In addition, services and information (400) can be provided for a requested URL that includes a domain name that has not been explicitly registered with the DNS name server computers (470).
TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus and method for implementing a personalized uniform Resource Locator (URL) for a network user is disclosed, which comprises the steps of assigning a unique user identifier associated with the user information, and creating a personalized URL using at least a portion of the unique user identifiers prepended to a domain name.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for implementing a personalized uniform Resource Locator (URL) for a network user is disclosed. The personalized URL apparatus and method comprises the steps of: 1) assigning a unique user identifier associated with the user information, and 2) creating a personalized URL using at least a portion of the unique user identifier prepended to a domain name.
