TL;DR: Divergence time estimates are obtained for a large family of leafy liverworts; the Lepidoziaceae (Jungermanniidae), and it is shown that, although there is great potential in synthetic dating analyses of sequence data, missing sequences can reduce the reliability of estimates, and that calibration priors should be interpreted with caution.
TL;DR: When Schuster (1991) described Pellia endiviifolia subsp.
Abstract: When Schuster (1991) described Pellia endiviifolia subsp. alpicola and Pellia appalachiana he failed to state the herbarium where the types were deposited. Damsholt (2007) used the invalid name as a ‘basionym’ when elevating Pellia endiviifolia subsp. alpicola to a species without validating it.
