TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a flexible packaging method and apparatus where each product is packaged by enveloping the product in flexible packaging material and a printer prints information specific to the product that is being packaged onto a label that is then affixed to the flexible packing material prior to the item being packaged.
Abstract: A packaging method and apparatus wherein each product is packaged by enveloping the product in flexible packaging material. A programmed microprocessor calculates the length of flexible packaging material needed to package the product based on the physical dimensions of the product, calculates the weight of the flexible packaging material needed, and calculates a total package weight as the sum of the weight of the product and the calculated weight of the flexible packaging material. A printer prints information specific to the product that is being packaged onto a label that is then affixed to the flexible packaging material prior to the product being packaged. The information can be a function of the package weight, and the calculated total package weight can be communicated from the microprocessor to the printer. Finally, the product is packaged in the flexible packaging material having the label already affixed thereto.

TL;DR: In this article, overpressure valves for packaging containers are supplied in a roll, transported in this form to a packaging machine, separated here and attached to packaging containers by means of an adhesive coated surface.
Abstract: Overpressure valves for packaging containers are supplied in a roll, transported in this form to a packaging machine, separated here and attached to packaging containers by means of an adhesive coated surface. For this purpose the overpressure valves have a layer of emulsion bonding on their underside. To prevent individual layers of the roll from sticking together, the overpressure valves have an adhesive-repelling layer on their top side. The overpressure valves are connected to one another in one piece and in a row, and are separated consecutively in a packaging machine.
TL;DR: In this paper, a horizontal sealer for a vertical pillow type form-fill-seal packaging machine has been proposed, where the heating surfaces of the assemblies remain oriented in the same direction, the pressure applied to the film material can be controlled and the bag can be squeezed before the horizontal sealing such that articles being packaged will settle inside the bag.
Abstract: A horizontal sealer for a vertical pillow type form-fill-seal packaging machine has a pair of horizontally elongated heater assemblies which are supported such that they remain horizontal as they individually rotate around mutually parallel axes. The distance between these axes are varied as the heater assemblies rotate around them such that the heater assemblies have generally D-shaped trajectories as they horizontally seal a tubularly formed thermoplastic flexible film material to make a bag. Mechanisms are provided whereby the heating surfaces of the assemblies remain oriented in the same direction, the pressure applied to the film material can be controlled and the bag can be squeezed before the horizontal sealing such that articles being packaged will settle inside the bag. A similarly structured vertical sealer may be provided to a horizontal pillow type packaging machine.
TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for sterilizing packaging with vapor-phase hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet radiation on a packaging machine is described, which allows for filling of the packaging material with a desired product such as milk, juice or water.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for sterilizing packaging with vapor-phase hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet radiation on a packaging machine. A partially formed packaging material is sprayed with gaseous hydrogen peroxide thereby allowing the gas to condense on the packaging material. The packaging material is then conveyed to a UV radiation source for irradiation of the packaging material. The packaging material is then dried with heated air to flush/remove any residual hydrogen peroxide. The present invention sterilizes the packaging material allowing for filling of the packaging material with a desired product such as milk, juice or water. The packaging material may be any number of possibilities such as gable top cartons, parallelepiped containers, flexible pouches, and the like. The invention allows for the efficacious use of hydrogen peroxide having a concentration of up to 53% while providing a packaging material having less than 0.5 ppm hydrogen peroxide.
