TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for facilitating a keyword search request initiated at a client station within a multilevel data network, wherein the multi-level data network includes multiple local sites each containing multiple data pages, is presented.
Abstract: A method and system for facilitating a keyword search request initiated at a client station within a multilevel data network, wherein the multilevel data network includes multiple local sites each containing multiple data pages. Multiple keywords from each of the data pages within the local sites of the multilevel data network are stored locally and indexed such that each of the keywords points to one or more of the data pages in which the keywords are contained. The keywords and their index associations are locally updated. A central database is utilized to compile and index the locally indexed keywords from each of the local sites, such that each of the keywords in the central database points to one or more local sites from which those keywords came in response to a keyword search initiated at the client station.
TL;DR: In this article, an improved architecture for a network search engine (NSE) is described, which includes an interface manager, one or more levels of a splitting engine, an array of data processing units (DPUs), and a cascade block.
Abstract: An improved architecture for a network search engine (NSE) is disclosed herein as including an interface manager, one or more levels of a splitting engine, an array of data processing units (DPUs), and a cascade block. A method for using the improved NSE architecture to form an efficient pointer entry database is also provided. As described herein, the improved NSE architecture simultaneously provides high speed, search throughput, update rate and capacity, coupled with low power and fixed latency searches for all search key widths.
TL;DR: In this article, a CAM array is provided within the network search engine to store data values in entries having respective addresses and to compare the data values with a search key, and range control circuitry is provided to generate a hit signal having either a first state or a second state according to whether any of the entries having addresses within the range of addresses match the search key.
Abstract: Controlling a searchable range within a network search engine A CAM array is provided within the network search engine to store data values in entries having respective addresses and to compare the data values with a search key First address and a second addresses that define a range of the addresses are received at an interface of the network search engine, and range-control circuitry is provided within the network search engine to generate a hit signal having either a first state or a second state according to whether any of the entries having addresses within the range of addresses match the search key
TL;DR: In this paper, an Internet infrastructure that supports search operations that are restricted by user favorite lists, related user metadata, and user trends that are based on client-stored user favorite behavior is presented.
Abstract: An Internet infrastructure that supports search operations that are restricted by user favorite lists, related user metadata, and user trends that are based on client-stored user favorite behavior. The Internet infrastructure contains a search engine server coupled to a plurality of web browsers resident on client devices that contain user/favorite lists and metadata. The search engine supports delivery of search result web links to the client device based upon a search string, favorite list, and related metadata. The search engine server gathers favorite lists and related metadata from the plurality of web browsers, anonymously and with user permission. The search engine server stores the gathered favorite lists and related metadata in a database that is associated with the search engine server, and delivers search results based upon the search string by putting restrictions on search results based upon stored data in the database.
TL;DR: In this article, a method and apparatus for searching for documents residing on a network comprises receiving a search request from a user, which comprises one or more search terms of an ontology.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for searching for a documents residing on a network comprises receiving a search request from a user. The search request comprises one or more search terms of an ontology. The ontology includes a plurality of terms. One or more of the plurality of terms includes a plurality of sub-category terms. One or more documents residing on the network is identified based on the one or more search terms and an ontology index. The ontology index comprises a plurality of relationships between the plurality of terms and sub-category terms of the ontology and a plurality of documents residing on the network. One or more search results that describe the one or more documents is presented to the user. The one or more documents contain the one or more search terms, or one of the plurality of sub-category terms of the one or more search terms.
