The systems and methods include creating a timer mode having a start time and an end time, assigning an emergency contact to the timer mode, at the start time of the timer mode automatically activating the timer mode, at the end time of the timer mode automatically activating an emergency mode, and communicating the user's personal safety data with the emergency contact during the emergency mode. To create the timer mode or assign the emergency contact(s), information from the user's electronic device and/or on a remote server may be imported.

Abstract: This paper presents formative research to inform the design of intelligent automotive user interfaces. It describes an evaluation of dialogue-based interfaces, mediating the driver to take back control from the autonomous mode of a car. Four concepts designed to increase driver Situation Awareness were evaluated in a driving simulator. They used dialogue-based interaction, where driving-related information was either asked from or repeated by the driver, with the alternative of a countdown-based interface with no additional information. An inclusive set of participants, with a wide age spectrum, tested the interfaces. The shorter and simpler interaction of the countdown timer was most accepted. The interface seeking answers to driving-related questions came next, and the interface requiring repetition of driving-related information, even when augmented by visual and tactile cues, was least accepted. Design guidelines on utilizing dialogue as a means of keeping the driver in the loop during a takeover were thus derived.

Abstract: Patients suffering from quadriplegia have limited body motion which prevents them from performing daily activities. We have developed an assistive robotic system with an intuitive free-view gaze interface. The user's point of regard is estimated in 3D space while allowing free head movement and is combined with object recognition and trajectory planning. This framework allows the user to interact with objects using fixations. Two operational modes have been implemented to cater for different eventualities. The automatic mode performs a pre-defined task associated with a gaze-selected object, while the manual mode allows gaze control of the robot's end-effector position on the user's frame of reference. User studies reported effortless operation in automatic mode. A manual pick and place task achieved a success rate of 100% on the users' first attempt.

Furthermore because the first wireless earphone and the second wireless earphone are respectively provided with the MAC address and the key of the same terminal equipment internally, the first wireless earphone and the second wireless earphone can be singly connected with the terminal equipment. Therefore the first wireless earphone and the second wireless earphone can be usedas a master earphone or a slave earphone. When no electric energy is supplied to the master earphone, the slave earphone can be switched as the master earphone for continuous use. When one member in the first wireless earphone and the second wireless earphone is connected with the terminal equipment, the connected earphone is set to a master mode, and the afterwards connected earphone is switchedto a slave mode, thereby realizing no requirement for distinguishing between the master earphone and the slave earphone by a user.

Abstract: Appropriately modifying the arithmetic in a processor causes data to remain in encrypted form throughout processing, providing a technical approach to privacy for the ordinary user against the operator and other powerful insiders. The theory has been verified in a prototype superscalar processor design that fully implements the OpenRISC processor standard, adapted for encrypted running. The processor runs in a (one-to-many) encryption in user mode, and runs unencrypted in operator mode. The AES-based models run at 104 Dhrystones MIPS on a 1GHz base clock, equivalent to a 433MHz classic Pentium. Experience lets us propose a modified RISC instruction set for encrypted working with which semantic security (relative to the security of the encryption) for user data against the operator is mathematically provable on this kind of platform, in conjunction with an 'obfuscating' compiler for user programs, though the operator has unrestricted runtime access to (encrypted) user data.

Abstract: This paper explores and evaluates the adaptive features provided by the different mobile operating systems (OS) for color-blind users. It presents a brief of color-blind disability and the challenges faced by color-blind users while operating mobile-phones. The mobile OS provide static color-blind color schemes for different types of color-blind users that need to be adapted manually. A research application is developed to introduce an adaptive interface scheme with sensing of the colorblindness type and switch to respective color-blind mode. The evaluation of this adaptive environment is performed through usability experimentation. User task effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction are the criterion for the said evaluation. The results concluded that the provided color-blind modes may increase the usability in user satisfaction but not much gain can be obtained in effectiveness and efficiency. It is also found that only switching to respective mode might not make much difference in adaptive and non-adaptive environment until the adaptive interfaces are properly designed through user centered design (UCD) for specific users.

Abstract: This paper explores the utility of peer pressure as an actionable mechanism to induce socially responsible and environmentally-conscious mobility habits. We adopt a two-stage game theoretic model of peer pressure to investigate feedback between social, geographic, and temporal dimensions of agent choices in a hyper-realistic micro-simulation of travel. The results show that peer pressure helps in achieving desirable equilibrium properties while reducing congestion and emissions due to sustained mode shift. With a way to initiate the required social norming and a proper concern for privacy and ethics, these cost-effective mechanisms may soon begin to find use in improving community welfare.

The track scanning sensors, data store and scan data processor are attached to a common support structure for mounting the system to a railway vehicle in use. An inertia sensor and common master clock are used to make corrections to the output of the track scanning sensors to accommodate dynamic forces in use. The inspection system may be provided in a single housing for mounting to a conventional passenger/freight rail vehicles and may operate automatically in an unattended mode. The location of track components and/or defects may be logged.

The is paper presents the implementation of position control of a Stepper motor using LabView.Half step and Full step mode of stepper motor control is performed and tested for different position angles. The test results show that half step mode makes an angle of 0.9oper step (400 steps), whereas full step makes 1.8°per step (200 steps). With LabVIEW, the system has friendly interface, good control effect and easy control in both the directions.

Abstract: The invention discloses a flexible screen terminal control method, a flexible screen terminal and a computer readable storage medium, and aims at the problem that a user interaction experience is caught in a bottleneck. The provided flexible screen terminal control method fully utilizes the characteristics that the flexible screen terminal can be bent, a bending-instruction mapping relationship table used for representing the corresponding relation between each bending mode and interactive instruction is pre-saved, when it is determined that the flexible screen terminal is hold by a user by one hand, the bending mode of the flexible screen terminal is detected to determine the interactive instruction corresponding to the bending mode, so that the user can issue the interactive instructionthrough the bending of the terminal. The bran-new interactive mode has high interestingness, and is beneficial to improving the user's interest in interaction. The invention further provides a flexible screen terminal and a computer readable storage medium. When the user holds the flexible screen terminal by one hand, the user can more conveniently to operate the terminal through the interactive mode of bending, the problem is avoided that an existing interaction scheme is not beneficial for the user to operate the terminal by one hand, and the user experience is improved.

The networking work mode selection method comprises the steps that the preset work mode parameter informationis acquired; networking work mode ordering information is obtained according to the preset work mode parameter information and the networking work mode information; and the networking work mode ordering information is transmitted to a base station, wherein the preset work mode parameter information includes the work mode preference setting information for the terminal and the power supply state information. According to the scheme, the networking work mode ordering information is obtained according to the preset work mode parameter information and the networking work mode information and the networking work mode ordering information is transmitted to the base station so that the base station is enabled to determine the matched networking work mode to dispatch the terminal from the networking work mode ordering information reported by the terminal according to the capacity information of the base station. The problems in the prior art that the terminal simultaneously supporting the 5G independent networking and non-independent networking mode cannot select the networking work mode can be greatly solved.

The operating system allocates corresponding system resources for different running periods in the same application scenario, so that the application can achieve a good running effect in different running periods in the same application scenario.
