The device may also be configured to launch applications in either mode. It may be configured to switch between modes automatically or in response to a user command. The windows may also be re-oriented in response to a change in the device's orientation or to a user's command.

The apparatus and method improve interactivity using a toolbar menu mode screen which allows a user to execute functions and commands with drag and drop behaviors on the touchscreen to graphical objects such as toolbar, icons, and other active objects. An interface apparatus includes a touchscreen unit that displays a screen including a second region for presenting a toolbar having at least one User Interface (UI) element representing a specific function and a first region for activating, when the UI element is dragged from the toolbar and dropped in the first region on the touchscreen, the function represented by the UI element. The interface apparatus also includes a control unit which detects a drag and drop action of the UI element and activates, when the drag and drop action is detected, the function associated with the UI element in the form of an active function object. The interface apparatus of the present invention registers the frequently used functions with the toolbar in the form of icons such that, when an icon is dragged from the toolbar to the main window, the function represented by the icon is activated.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods, such as those that read data from non-volatile integrated circuit memory devices (106), such as NAND flash. For example, disclosed techniques can be embodied in a device driver (110) of an operating system (104). Errors are tracked during read operations. If sufficient errors are observed (204) during read operations, the block is then retired when it is requested to be erased or a page of the block is to be written (210), (212), (214), (310). One embodiment is a technique to recover data from uncorrectable errors. For example, a read mode can be changed (410) to a more reliable read mode to attempt to recover data. One embodiment further returns data (106) from the memory device regardless of whether the data was correctable (430) by decoding of error correction code data or not.

Once in a particular mode the device provides notifications according to that mode.

In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, the method of providing a menu user interface by a portable apparatus, including determining whether a main menu icon displayed on a touch screen is selected; determining whether a menu mode is an activation mode or an inactivation mode if the main menu icon is selected; and changing the menu mode into the activation mode if the menu mode is determined as the inactivation mode and forming an expanded menu by radically arranging a submenu of n hierarchies, n being a natural number, corresponding to the main menu icon and displaying the formed expanded menu through a touch screen. Accordingly, with the present invention, a user interface capable of inputting various data with easy manipulation and minimized multi-points can be provided.

Abstract: The invention relates to a computer arrangement (10) comprising a processor (11) and memory (12; 13; 14; 15) accessible for the processor (11). The memory (12; 13; 14; 15) comprises a computer program comprising data and instructions arranged to allow said processor (11) to: a) obtain an image to be displayed, b) obtain depth information relating to the image, c) use depth information to identify at least one region in the image, d) select display mode for at least one identified region.
