TL;DR: Summary of Electrolytic Hydrogen Production: Milestone Completion Report TLDR - Electrolytic hydrogen production technologies and economic analysis as of December 2003. Summary of commercially available electrolyzer operating specifications and detailed economic analyses of three systems.
Abstract: This report provides an overview of the current state of electrolytic hydrogen production technologies and an economic analysis of the processes and systems available as of December 2003. The operating specifications of commercially available electrolyzers from five manufacturers, i.e., Stuart, Teledyne, Proton, Norsk Hydro, and Avalence, are summarized. Detailed economic analyses of three systems for which cost and economic data were available were completed. The contributions of the cost of electricity, system efficiency, and capital costs to the total cost of electrolysis are discussed.
TL;DR: The human genome sequencing milestone in 2001 has revolutionized evolutionary biology and provided insights into ecology. It has revealed the relationship between humans and other species, and has paved the way for advancements in medicine and society.
Abstract: Abstract A milestone in the history of biology—and indeed of science and of society—was passed in February 2001, when two research groups announced completion of a “draft” of the human genome (International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium 2001, Venter et al. 2001). Even if some biologists felt that this event had rather less scientific significance than the public acclaim might suggest (because, after all, complete genome sequences had already been published for quite a few other species), the social and medical implications are undeniably immense. And for an evolutionary biologist, the most gratifying aspect of this historic event is that the leading publications are pervaded with evolutionary interpretation: “Most human repeat sequence is derived from transposable elements.” “The monophyletic LINE1 and Alu lineages are at least 150 and 80 Myr old, respectively.” “[M]ost protein domains trace at least as far back as a common animal ancestor.” “[C]onservation of gene order[between human and mouse] has been used to identify likely orthologues between the species, particularly when investigating disease phenotypes.”[All quotations are taken from International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium (2001).]

TL;DR: The Africa Review of Books (ARB) marks a historic moment in the study of Africa, carrying with it a sense of accomplishment and the promise of a new era in the field.
Abstract: So, the Africa Review of Books (ARB) is born! The road that has been traveled to produce this maiden edition of the Review has been a long one and the obstacles that have had to be surmounted numerous. In fact, at a point, such was the magnitude of the difficulties encountered that some were tempted either to give up on the project altogether or to postpone it indefinitely or even modify it so radically as to alter its identity as an autonomous product of the African social research community. But many others also held on tenaciously to the dream, convinced that the impeccable ideals that underpinned it necessitated the investment of all the energies required to bring it to fruition. That is why the appearance of this first issue of the Review carries with it a sense of historic moment which, hopefully, will also mark the beginning of a new phase, indeed, even a turning point in the study of Africa. It is for this reason too that there is a pervasive sense of celebration accompanying the issuance of the maiden edition of the publication.

TL;DR: ANTARES project achieved a milestone with the operation of a prototype line and a line with monitoring instruments, enabling a comprehensive understanding of environmental parameters.
Abstract: The ANTARES project aims to build a deep-sea Cherenkov Telescope for High Energy Neutrino Astronomy located in the Mediterranean Sea. The experiment, currently in the construction phase, has recently achieved an important milestone : the operation of a prototype line and of a line with monitoring instruments. These deployments allowed a thorough understanding of environmental parameters.
