TL;DR: Comparisons with other genera suggest affinities of species of Lordomyrma to species of Cyphoidris and Lachnomyrmex, while Mayriella abstinens Forel shares unusual features with those of Proatta butteli.
Abstract: The sting apparatus and pygidium are described for eight of 20 Lordomyrma species and one of five Mayriella species. The apparatus of L. epinotalis is distinctly different from that of other Lordomyrma species. Comparisons with other genera suggest affinities of species of Lordomyrma to species of Cyphoidris and Lachnomyrmex, while Mayriella abstinens Forel shares unusual features with those of Proatta butteli.
TL;DR: Three new species belonging to the ant subfamily Myrmicinae are described from Western Australia.
Abstract: Three new species belonging to the ant subfamily Myrmicinae are described from Western Australia. Epopostruma inornata is the nineteenth species known for this Australian genus. It has been collected only once. Mayriella occidua is the eighth species of this small genus, and the sixth from Australia. It is the first species from Western Australia and extends the known distribution of the genus into south-western Australia. Mesostruma spinosa is the fifth species, out of nine known for the genus, to be found in Western Australia. It has been collected only once.
TL;DR: A new species of ant genus Mayriella, M. warchalowskii n.
Abstract: A new species of ant genus Mayriella, M. warchalowskii n. sp. (NE India), is described and illustrated. It is a third species reported from Southeast Asia west of Wallace's line.
TL;DR: The ant genus Mayriella is revised at the species level as mentioned in this paper, and the genus contains seven species: M. abstinens Forel (north-east Australia and New Zealand), M. sharpi Shattuck & Barnett (new species) (eastern Papua New Guinea), M spinosior Wheeler (northeast Australia) and M. transfuga Baroni Urbani (Nepal and India east to Hong Kong and the Philippines and south to Borneo and Java, Indonesia).
Abstract: The ant genus Mayriella is revised at the species level. The genus contains seven species: M. abstinens Forel (north-east Australia and New Zealand), M. ebbei Shattuck & Barnett (new species) (south-east Australia), M. granulata (Vietnam), M. overbecki Viehmeyer (removed from synonymy with M. abstinens) (east-central Australia), M. sharpi Shattuck & Barnett (new species) (eastern Papua New Guinea), M. spinosior Wheeler (north-east Australia) and M. transfuga Baroni Urbani (Nepal and India east to Hong Kong and the Philippines and south to Borneo and Java, Indonesia). M. hackeri Wheeler and M. venustula Wheeler are synonymized with M. abstinens. All species occur in rainforest or wet sclerophyll forests and nest in soil, often under rocks, or in rotten wood on the ground.
