TL;DR: In this article, a storage device made of flash memory module(s) and storage device controller and a PCI Express interface unit, is implemented to be compatible with either ATA, ATAPI, SCSI or proprietary specification.
Abstract: A storage device made of flash memory module(s) and a storage device controller and a PCI Express interface unit, is implemented to be compatible with (1) either ATA, ATAPI, SCSI or proprietary specification, and (2) PCI Express platform such as, with then, ExpressCard Standard or PCI Express Card Specification or PCI Express Mini Card Specification. The device includes memory module(s), which can accept data transfer and configuration and status report to/from non-volatile solid-state memory herein referred to as flash memory module(s). The storage device controller and the PCI Express interface unit work together to provide (A) PCI Express interface functionality and compatibility, and (B) ATA, ATAPI or SCSI or proprietary programming interface functionality and compatibility, alone with common flash memory operations such as programming reading, writing, erasing, and data transferring from/to PCI Express host platform.
TL;DR: A peripheral component interconnect (PCI) extension/expansion system wherein the PCI Local Bus can be extended from a computer system's motherboard to another location is described in this article.
Abstract: A peripheral component interconnect (PCI) extension/expansion system wherein the PCI Local Bus can be extended from a computer system's motherboard to another location. A PCI translation card and remote PCI board communicate via a transmission medium to relay the signals from the PCI local bus to a remote location. The signals are then provided to remote expansion slots, where additional PCI components may be operated. Further, additional PCI connectors are provided for more add-in boards.
TL;DR: In this article, an enhanced peripheral component interconnect (PCI) architecture for a data-processing system is described, which comprises a PCI host bus, a number of PCI local buses, and a PCI hot-plug bridge.
Abstract: An enhanced peripheral component interconnect (PCI) architecture for a data-processing system is described. In accordance with the method and system of the present invention, a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) architecture for a data-processing system comprises a PCI host bus, a number of PCI local buses, and a PCI hot-plug bridge. Each of the local PCI buses has an adapter card slot. The PCI hot-plug bridge, connected between the PCI host bus and the PCI local buses, is utilized for controlling power to each of the PCI local buses, such that a PCI adapter card may be removed from or added to any one of the adapter card slots during power up while there is processing ongoing within adapter card(s) situated in other adapter card slot(s).
TL;DR: In this article, a PCI compliant device adapts its internal function and memory and the functions and memory of the second PCI device such that the host system sees only a single multi-function device, which appears to have the combined memories and functions of the adapter and second PCI devices.
Abstract: A PCI compliant device having an internal function and a secondary PCI port for a second PCI device having additional functions. The device adapts its internal function and memory and the functions and memory of the second PCI device such that the host system sees only a single multi-function device, which appears to have the combined memories and functions of the adapter and second PCI device. Preferably the adapter itself includes a graphics pre-processor, and is connected to one or more rendering processors on the second PCI port.
TL;DR: In this paper, a virtual PCI-PCI switch is used to transfer data from a virtual PCI-Express switch to an external switch through a network without passing through a traditional PCI bridge.
Abstract: Provided are a first PCI-PCI bridge that handles Multi Root to connect to a plurality of root complexes; a second PCI-PCI bridge that connects to an endpoint; a virtual PCI Express switch that performs a switching process between the first and second PCI-PCI bridges; and a network control device that transfers data that is to be processed in the virtual PCI Express switch to an external switch through a network without passing through a PCI-PCI bridge.
