Abstract: Two new junior synonymies in Lispe are proposed herein: L. bivittata Stein, 1909 = L. guizhouensis Wei, 2006 syn. nov. and L. nicobarensis Schiner, 1868 = L. leigongshana Wei & Yang, 2007 syn. nov. Both species are diagnosed with photographs and terminalia illustrations. The identity of L. subbivittata Mou, 1992, a former subspecies of L. bivittata , is discussed.

TL;DR: Almost 80% of the previously known Madagascan muscid fauna has been recognised among the material studied, and 23 new species are described.
Abstract: The Madagascan Muscidae fauna is known only from scattered publications by a variety of authors, containing mainly descriptions of new species. Previous records of Madagascan muscids amount to 78 species in 27 genera (Pont 1980). The present study of the Muscidae collected by the “Madagascar Arthropod Biodiversity Project”, developed by the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, California, has provided the stimulus for this paper in which all the genera and species recorded from Madagascar are keyed, 23 new species are described, and 7 species and 3 genera are newly recorded from Madagascar. Almost 80% of the previously known Madagascan muscid fauna has been recognised among the material studied. In addition to the new species described herein, replacement names are given for two homonyms: Dichaetomyia zielkei new name (for Dichaetomyia apicalis Zielke, 1972, preocc.) and Dichaetomyia frontata new name (for Dichaetomyia frontalis Zielke, 1972, preocc.). One new synonym is established: Dichaetomyia rangeri Zielke, 1973 (syn: Dichaetomyia scutellaris Zielke, 1974). The species newly recorded from Madagascar are: Atherigona (Acritochaeta) orientalis Schiner, 1868; Atherigona (Atherigona) addita Malloch, 1923; Brontaea flexa (Wiedemann, 1830); Dichaetomyia (Dichaetomyia) albivitta (Stein, 1906); Helina lucida (Stein, 1913); Lispe niveimaculata Stein, 1906 and Lispocephala pectinata (Stein, 1900). The genera newly recorded from Madagascar are: Azelia Robineau-Desvoidy, Phaonia Robineau-Desvoidy and Spilogona Schnabl.
TL;DR: Female of Lispe microptera Seguy, 1937 is described for the first time and Identification key for known Eurasian and African species is given.
Abstract: The Lispe longicollis species-group is revised. Lispe ethiopica sp. n. is described. The following 3 new synonyms are established: Lispe assimilis Wiedemann, 1824 (syn: cyrtoneurina Stein, 1900 and modesta Stein, 1913); Lispe manicata Wiedemann, 1830 (syn: forficata Kurahashi & Shinonaga, 2009). Female of Lispe microptera Seguy, 1937 is described for the first time. Identification key for known Eurasian and African species is given.
TL;DR: The taxonomy of Lispe Latreille, 1796 (Diptera: Muscidae) is reviewed and a key to the species group and 42 species and 2 subspecies occurring in China is provided.
Abstract: The taxonomy of Lispe Latreille, 1796 (Diptera: Muscidae) is reviewed. A key to the species group and 42 species and 2 subspecies occurring in China is provided. Three new species, namely L. appendibacula, sp. nov., L. septentrionalis, sp. nov., and L. tarsocilica, sp. nov., and one new junior synonym, L. argenteiceps Ma & Mou, 1992, syn. nov. for L. aquamarina Shinonaga & Kano, 1983 are established. L. cinifera Becker, 1904 is reported from new localities in China. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Shenyang Normal University.
