TL;DR: An intelligent layout system for drawing objects and organizing the drawn objects is presented in this article, where objects can be manipulated individually or as a group and to be arranged permanently in various relationships, in which various components or attributes of the objects are interrelated.
Abstract: An intelligent layout system for drawing objects and organizing the drawn objects. The layout system facilitates creation of objects, such as boxes that can contain text, graphics, outlines, titles, headlines, and other information and data, to provide a custom dashboard layout, as well as serves as a layout manager for organization of the objects. Additionally, the layout system enables objects to be manipulated individually or as a group and to be arranged permanently in various relationships, in which various components or attributes of the objects are interrelated. For example, the layout system enables a user to interrelate objects in one or more permanent relationships by selectively distributing, aligning, sizing, and/or spacing the objects. The layout system also provides a graphical user interface design tool for designing dynamic page layouts that automatically adapt to various page sizes and display screen sizes and resolutions. The layout system enables objects to be connected to the edge or edges of one or more pages in an intuitive and gestural manner to provide a dynamic page layout tool that automatically moves objects and causes them to re-size automatically to adapt the size and position of the objects if the page is re-sized or the size or resolution of the display screen is altered.

TL;DR: In this article, a system for creating and editing electronic layouts, such as layouts used to create web pages, via digital networks, is presented, which includes a server, a network, a database and one or more user interfaces.
Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for creating and editing electronic layouts, such as layouts used to create web pages, via digital networks. An exemplary system for creating an electronic layout suitably includes a server, a network, a database and one or more user interfaces. The server may suitably provide a layout editor configured to place one or more containers, areas and/or spacers onto a layout panel in response to inputs from a user and a layout manager configured to validate properties of the layout and to generate the layout. An exemplary method for creating a document layout suitably includes displaying a layout panel; placing at least one container on the layout panel to create the layout, the container comprising a software object representing a visual element; and storing the layout in a database for future use and/or editing.
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for providing partial layout synchronization in a teleconferencing system is described, where a client application enters a presenter participant mode and accepts a layout modification from a local user.
Abstract: A method for providing partial layout synchronization in a teleconferencing system is described. In the method, a conference client application enters a presenter participant mode and accepts a layout modification from a local user. The layout modification alters a selection or arrangement of conference components in a user interface. The conference client determines whether the layout modification is a significant layout modification or an insignificant layout modification and transmits a command to a conference server containing a representation of the layout modification only when the layout modification is a significant layout modification.
TL;DR: A layout design assisting system operates in the following steps: a drawing of a layout area for installing a plurality of layout objects is displayed on a display unit, and an examination is conducted as to whether or not the other layout object can be relocated so that it does not interfere with the specified layout object as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A layout design assisting system operates in the following steps. A drawing of a layout area for installing a plurality of layout objects is displayed on a display unit. The operator specifies one of the displayed layout objects. Another layout object which interferes with the specified layout object is found in the layout area. An economical loss imposed on the specified layout object attributable to the other layout object is evaluated. Examination is conducted as to whether or not the other layout object can be relocated so that it does not interfere with the specified layout object. The specified layout object, the other layout object, the economical loss and the examination result are displayed on the display unit.
