Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture for enabling keyboard accelerators (301) in software applications implemented via a browser application are disclosed herein. Keyboard accelerators are enabled by intercepting keyboard data (303) before it can be utilized by the browser application for its own purposes, such as initiation of a keyboard accelerator native to the browser application. The intercepted keyboard data is evaluated (305) to determine whether it corresponds to a defined remote application keyboard accelerator, and if so, then a remote application function module (309) is called to implement the feature mapped to the particular identified keyboard accelerator. The keyboard data may then be removed from an event queue or otherwise deleted such that the browser application continues to be executed without reference thereto.
TL;DR: In this article, a portable computer telephone device comprising a portable personal computer and a mobile phone integrated into one and the same body structure is presented, having a display screen and a keyboard member for operating the computer and the mobile telephone.
Abstract: A portable computer telephone device comprising a portable personal computer and a mobile phone integrated into one and the same body structure said body having a display screen (3) and a keyboard member (2) for operating the computer and the mobile telephone. To improve the convenience of use of such an integrated device, the keyboard member (2) is arranged to be movable between open and closed positions with respect to the rest of the body structure (1) in such a way that in the open position the whole display screen (3) and at least the whole keyboard (4, 5) of the computer are accessible for operating the computer and in the closed position the keyboard member (2) covers a part of the display screen and leaves the buttons (6) of the mobile telephone part 3(a) of the display screen accessible for operating the mobile telephone.
TL;DR: In this paper, a modular computer system consisting of a tablet computer, a base unit, and a remote keyboard is described, where the base unit has a keyboard guide to receive a keyboard by lifting the keyboard above a support surface.
Abstract: A computer housing or case contains computer system components including a display unit, a processor, and a computer power supply unit. One or more handles are positioned at a side of the case to allow a user to hold the encased computer system while viewing the display. A case has a support interface structure to hold the case steady in an upright position. The support interface structure of the case mates with a complimentary support interface in the weight-supporting base unit and mates with guides to align a power supply port in the case to contact a power supply port in the base unit. A base unit has a keyboard guide to receive a keyboard by lifting the keyboard above a support surface. A modular computer system comprises a tablet computer, a base unit, and a remote keyboard. A first infrared communication device couples the tablet computer to the remote keyboard and other input peripherals. A second infrared communication device couples the tablet computer to a remote printer. A radio frequency network adapter couples the tablet computer to the base unit, which provides additional communications to an external communications network.
TL;DR: In this paper, a wireless keyboard incorporating a pointing device has a data encoder 21 and an RF transmitter 22, and transmits the key data and the pointing cursor data to the reception unit 3 which is connected to a keyboard connector 6 and to a mouse connector 7 of a computer through connection cables 8 and 9.
Abstract: A wireless data input device requiring no cable for connection to the keyboard or to the pointing device. A wireless keyboard 16 incorporating a pointing device has a data encoder 21 and an RF transmitter 22, and transmits the key data and the pointing cursor data to the reception unit 3 which is connected to a keyboard connector 6 and to a mouse connector 7 of a computer 1 through connection cables 8 and 9. The reception unit 3 has a data decoder 11 and an input/output control unit 12, and decodes the received data and inputs them to the computer through bidirectional communication.
TL;DR: In this article, a computer system which combines the capabilities of both notepad and notebook computers is described. But the main housing contains a recessed portion for receiving a detachable keyboard.
Abstract: A computer systems which combines the capabilities of both notepad and notebook computers. The main housing includes an liquid crystal display display with a digitizer input to be used as the display in all modes and the input device when used with a stylus in notepad mode. Also located in the main housing are a floppy disk drive, a hard disk drive, an optional modem unit, batteries, and the electronics of the computer. The main housing contains a recessed portion for receiving a detachable keyboard. The keyboard includes a pivoting, mating extension which is received in the recess so that the keyboard is retained in the recess during storage conditions and in some cases of use, where the housing acts as a partial keyboard support to allow angling of the keyboard. The keyboard contains pivoting legs so that the keyboard can be used remotely from the main housing and yet be angled. The main housing contains a pivoting portion which can operate as a stand when the computer is being operated with the keyboard, so that the display is properly angled for viewing by the user. The pivoting portion can also be pivoted to a position generally parallel with the main housing, but having a portion extending past the housing to act as a handle.
