TL;DR: Results showed that pongamol and karangin isolated from the fruits of Pongamia pinnata possesses significant antihyperglycemic activity in Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats and type 2 diabetic db/db mice and protein tyrosine phosphatase-1B may be the possible target for their activity.
TL;DR: Karanjin, the major crystalline principle of karanja (Pongamia glabra Vent.) seeds, is shown to be a potent nitrification inhibitor that compares well with N-serve in pot-culture experiments with rice crop.
Abstract: Karanjin, the major crystalline principle of karanja (Pongamia glabra Vent.) seeds, is shown to be a potent nitrification inhibitor. It compares well with N-serve in pot-culture experiments with rice crop. Structure activity relationship studies with chemically altered molecules from karanjin show that its furan ring is essential for showing the inhibitory effect.
TL;DR: The antifungal, antibacterial and phytotoxicity results of pure compounds 1 and 2 as well as of the methanol and ethyl acetate crude extracts are also being reported.
Abstract: Pongarotene ( 1 ), a new rotenoid and karanjin ( 2 ), a known flavonol, were isolated from the seeds of Pongamia pinnata . The structure determination of these compounds were based on spectral anal...
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of application of different nitrification inhibitors on methane (CH 4 ) and nitrous oxide (N 2 O) emissions from rice paddy and associated soil chemical and biological dynamics during wet and dry seasons of rice crop in a tropical climate of eastern India.
