Abstract: An Internet refrigerator and a method of operating the Internet refrigerator are disclosed. The Internet refrigerator includes a modem for performing a data communication with remote communication devices through the Internet, a first control section for controlling constituent elements of the refrigerator, a touch panel for producing key signals in accordance with a user's touch, a second control section for controlling other constituent elements of the refrigerator including the first control section in response to the key signals provided from the touch panel and key signals from the remote communication devices, a display section for displaying necessary information under the control of the second control section, and an Internet connection device for connecting the refrigerator to the Internet. The Internet refrigerator operating method uses internal information of the Internet refrigerator and information from the external communication devices. According to the Internet refrigerator and the operating method thereof, home automation centering around a kitchen can be implemented.

Abstract: An Internet refrigerator with a Web pad and a method for operating the same. The Web pad is detachably mounted on the Internet refrigerator, and transmits and receives data to/from the Internet refrigerator on the basis of a remote display protocol (RDP). The Web pad is a client Web pad detachably mounted on an outer surface of the Internet refrigerator. The client Web pad is adapted to receive a display signal transmitted from the Internet refrigerator and output the received display signal externally. A server control unit is provided to transmit the display signal to the client Web pad on the basis of the remote display protocol such that data processed in the Internet refrigerator is displayed through the client Web pad. Application programs and multimedia data are driven on the basis of the server control unit, resulting in a reduction in work-load on the client Web pad.

Abstract: An Internet refrigerator with a heat sink uses cold air from the Internet refrigerator itself, without a CPU cooling fan on a main board. The Internet refrigerator includes a main board with a chip set thereon and a temperature sensor that detects a temperature of the main board. A heat sink plate faces a surface of the main board and absorbs heat generated from the chip set. A pipeline having both ends connected to an interior of a cooled compartment of the refrigerator is arranged to contact a lower surface of the main board at a portion thereof. Additionally, a cooling fan can be arranged in the cooled compartment of the refrigerator for introducing cold air from the cooled compartment of the refrigerator into the pipeline.
