Abstract: In a study of schizophrenic thought pathology, potential loss of set and intermingling were examined. The responses of 36 acute psychiatric patients who showed intermingling were analyzed. Intermingling, frequently seen in the speech and thinking of schizophrenic patients, involves the blending of personal material from one's experiences into one's thinking and communication, leading to bizarre and inappropriate speech. The results indicated that intermingling frequently leads to some loss of goal-directed thinking, but not usually to complete loss of set. Patients adopt new sets based partly on the original topic and partly on their own personal idiosyncratic concerns. The apparent "looseness" of schizophrenic patients is based on thematic shifts to idiosyncratic ideas, often from the beginning of their responses, rather than on word-to-word associative looseness. Intermingling of personal concerns typically occurs in a nonfragmented fashion. Schizophrenics and other psychotic patients show significantly more intermingling of personal material in open and undisguised fashion, as though they do not recognize how inappropriate their intermingling appears. The results suggest that although the intrusion of personal material is task inappropriate, it still represents a form of systematic, goal-oriented thinking.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examine financial intermingling in small family businesses and find that differences in financial intermmingling are primarily characterized by differences in business characteristics and household net worth.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated many parameters in intermingling process and determined the effects of these parameters on yarn properties statistically, such as yarn strength, elongation, and number of nips.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to evaluate many parameters in intermingling process and to determine the effects of these parameters on yarn properties statistically. For this purpose, POY (partially oriented polyester yarn) filaments, which have 283 dtex linear density and four different filament numbers (34, 47, 68, 100) in cross-section, were used as raw material. Samples were produced at speeds of 150, 300, 450 m/min and pressures of 3, 5, 6 bar, respectively. Intermingled yarn’s strength, elongation, and the number of nips were tested and these features were evaluated as response (dependent) variables. Number of filaments in cross-section, intermingling speed, and intermingling pressure were taken as independent variables. General factorial design was applied by using Design Expert 6.0.1 and SPSS 15.0 software package, and therefore, the effects of selected independent variables on response variables were evaluated statistically. Results showed that the intermingling pressure and number of filaments have s...
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of nozzle geometry on the intermingling process was investigated by visually inspecting intermingled yarns and by measuring the nip frequency and power consumption, and the results confirmed the broad trend established in the geometry study that the shape of the yam channel is not critical, provided the air inlet is large enough.
Abstract: This study investigates the effect of nozzle geometry on the intermingling process. The dimensions of intermingling nozzles with single air inlets extended across the width of a rectangular yam channel are systematically varied. Nozzles with this cross-sectional shape prove to be easy to manufacture and efficient at intermingling. The performance is evaluated by visually inspecting the intermingled yarns and by measuring the nip fre quency. We have found that the performance of nozzles with large inlet widths is weakly dependent on yam channel geometry. The performance of nozzles with the smallest air inlet widths, on the other hand, is sensitive to yarn channel geometry. The smallest and largest yam channels we have considered give poor intermingling results. Control of the yam path is beneficial for the success and consistency of the intermingling process. Using yam guides to create a diagonal yarn path across the nozzle has the additional advantage of decreasing noise production. Our extended air inlet slot ensures continuous exposure of the yarn to the supply air stream across the entire width of the yarn channel in this arrangement. We also compare our designs with four industrial nozzles under identical process conditions. This study reveals similar trends for nip frequency and power consumption. The results agree with the broad trend established in the geometry study that the shape of the yam channel is not critical, provided the air inlet is large enough.
