TL;DR: In this paper, an object-oriented system and method for easily and rapidly distributing medical images from existing picture and report storage systems to a plurality of heterogeneous client workstations is presented.
Abstract: This invention relates to an object-oriented system and method for easily and rapidly distributing medical images from existing picture and report storage systems to a plurality of heterogeneous client workstations. The system includes one or more interface engines, for providing image objects with uniform structure regardless of the type of existing system on which they are stored, and image server middleware, for managing the distribution of image objects. The system also includes a security object server, for authorizing user access to the image distribution system and to particular objects, a personalization object server, for providing user interface preferences and client workstation capabilities, and a web server, for downloading initial access pages and user interface components. The system implements a method for medical image distribution according to which image data stored in existing picture storage systems is first converted into uniformly structured image objects before being composed for downloading to client workstations for user viewing. The system and method of this invention are easily extensible both for added function and for added performance. The system and method of this invention are preferably implemented according to CORBA standards.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method and system for providing a medical record management service that supports the creating, storing, accessing, updating, and distributing of patient medical records, especially diagnostic-quality medical imaging, under the control of a patient and the coordinated care of the patient and her physician.
Abstract: A method and system for providing a medical record management service that supports the creating, storing, accessing, updating, and distributing of patient medical records, especially diagnostic-quality medical imaging, under the control of a patient and the coordinated care of the patient and her physician. According to a representative embodiment, the present invention includes a scanner, a clinical database, an account database, a digitizer, an e-mail server, an image server with an image archive, a web server, an Internet service provider, a web enabler, an expanded memory image archive, and a series of Internet-based software applications and graphical user interfaces that give the patients and physicians access to view and manipulate the information in the clinical database and image archives. The present invention can further include computer-aided detection and a printer capable of producing diagnostic-quality images.
TL;DR: In this paper, an electronic image distribution apparatus for distributing panoramic images is described, in which a panorama image server extracts a subset of each panorama image frame and compresses that subset of the image.
Abstract: An electronic image distribution apparatus for distributing panoramic images is disclosed. The central feature of the system is a panoramic image server coupled to a source of panoramic image information. The source of panoramic image frames may be a panoramic image storage device or a panoramic camera system. The panoramic image server converts the panoramic image frames into a format that is more conducive for electronic transmission. Specifically, the panoramic image server extracts a subset of each panoramic image frame and compresses that subset of the panoramic image. The panoramic image server may also geometrically transform the subset of the panoramic image frame. The compressed subset of a panoramic image frame is transmitted across a transmission medium to a client system. The client system decompresses the subset of panoramic image frame and displays the subset of the panoramic image frame. To conserve bandwidth, the panoramic image server compresses a large portion of the panoramic image frame and leaves a smaller portion of the panoramic image frame. The smaller portion of the panoramic image frame is later expanded by the client system.
TL;DR: In this paper, a method of processing at least one digital image of at least 1 photographic image and distributing at least visual print produced from the at least single digital image was proposed.
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method of processing at least one digital image of at least one photographic image and distributing at least one visual print produced from the at least one digital image. The method includes the steps of storing at least one digital image of at least one photographic image on at least one image server at a first location. Selective authorized access to the at least one digital image of the at least one photographic image from a second location is then facilitated. Orders are received for at least one visual print of the at least one photographic image from the second location. Based upon the orders at least one visual image is produced from the stored digital image at the first location in response to the at least one order.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a service which allows the user of the client apparatus that submits a print request to preview an image to be printed, and can reduce the information volume with the client equipment to achieve quick response, and prints a high-quality image with the requested size.
Abstract: This invention provides a service which allows the user of the client apparatus that submits a print request to preview an image to be printed, and can reduce the information volume with the client apparatus to achieve quick response, and prints a high-quality image with the requested size. For this purpose, a center server ( 102 ) on the network stores and manages display image data, and transfers requested display image data upon receiving a request from a client computer. Upon receiving a request including a print size from the client computer, the center server sends the print size and information that specifies an image to an image server which saves high-resolution images. Upon receiving the information, the image server processes high-resolution image data to have the designated size, and sends back the processed image data to the center server. The center server sends the received image data to a print server to make it print the data.
