Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and a method for preventing the lateral slipping of a rear wheel resulting in the rear-up (highsider) of a motorcycle during curving run of the motorcycle. SOLUTION: The unstable condition that the rear wheel of the motorcycle slips in the horizontal direction during curving run is detected from a degree of changes in the slipping angle and the steering angle of the rear wheel, the tilting state and the acceleration of the body, and the wheel slipping of the rear wheel. When a risk of highsider is detected, a reduction of engine torque is automatically restricted even in the case that a driver throttles the engine torque in such a situation.
