Abstract: Some morphological aspects of the larva of Graphipterus serrator are discussed and interpreted from an adaptive point of view. The most specialized structure appears to be the internal mandibular channel which is well developed in the first stage larva, and previously never found in Carabidae or in other terrestrial Adephagans. Also the original mouth is modified into a bifid opening. A morphofunctional interpretation of the mouth structure is given, in relation to the already known myrmecophagous habits of the preimaginal Graphipterus.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a revision du genre Graphipterus Latreille (Coleoptera Carabidae) and propose a new genus of Carabinae called Graphippterus latreille.
