TL;DR: In this article, an outer skin or facing of wood sheet material and an inner skin or face of woodsheet material are adhesively bonded to opposite sides of a core of rigid expanded foam material to form an elongated wall unit having a horizontal length greater than its vertical height.
Abstract: An outer skin or facing of wood sheet material and an inner skin or facing of wood sheet material are adhesively bonded to opposite sides of a core of rigid expanded foam material to form an elongated wall unit having a horizontal length greater than its vertical height. A longitudinally extending upper portion of the wall unit incorporates adhesively bonded members which form an integral continuous beam extending horizontally from one end of the wall unit to the opposite end. The integral beam has a vertical height substantially greater than its thickness for supporting a substantial load above a door or window opening which may be subsequently formed within the wall unit at any selected location between the ends of the wall unit. A plurality of spaced wood furring strips are adhesively bonded to the inner facing of the wall unit and are provided with channels adjacent the inner facing for receiving electrical wiring. The furring strips also function to strengthen the wall unit against wind deflection and provide for an air space between the inner facing and gypsum dry wall sheeting which is subsequently attached to the furring strips. In one embodiment, the beam is formed by wood members which are vertically spaced between the facings to form a box beam. In another embodiment, thin sheets of metal are bonded by adhesive to the inner surfaces of the facings and to the foam core panels which are uniform in thickness throughout the entire wall unit.
TL;DR: A metal fixture assembly for installation of vertical sidings to fix the siding to a furring, which is capable of providing a construction of the installation having excellent appearance and weathering, is presented in this paper.
Abstract: A metal fixture assembly for installation of vertical sidings to fix the siding to a furring, which is capable of providing a construction of the installation having excellent appearance and weathering, and a method using the metal fixture assembly to facilitate the installation. A metal fixture assembly for installation of a vertical lower siding and a vertical upper siding vertically adjacent to each other on a furring is positioned therebetween. The metal fixture assembly includes a fastening metal fixture to be fixed to the furring, an upper metal fitting provided between the fastening metal fixture and the upper siding and fittingly fixed on a bottom portion thereof, and a lower metal fitting provided between the fastening metal fixture and the lower siding and fittingly fixed on a top portion thereof. The fastening metal fixture has a fixing part to be fixed to the furring, a supporting part projecting from the fixing part to support the lower and upper sidings, an upper locking part provided between the fixing part and the supporting part and locking the upper metal fitting thereto, and a lower locking part provided between the fixing part and the supporting part and locking the lower metal fitting thereto.
TL;DR: In this article, a new composite beam and floor system was developed to achieve a higher strength and ductility, as well as to yield a more economical design purpose, which consists of three elements: reinforced concrete slab on corrugated cold-formed metal deck, back to back coldformed steel joists, and continuous coldformed furring shear connector.
TL;DR: In this article, an improved modular building consisting of a primary frame and a secondary frame of furring strips is described, where the ceiling is covered by foam insulation and a plurality of ceiling joists are supported by the primary and secondary frames.
Abstract: An improved modular building (10) is disclosed, the building (10) comprising sidewall modules (11), and ceiling modules (12). The sidewall modules (11) comprise a primary frame (19) to which a secondary frame of furring strips (26) is attached. The sidewall modules (11) further comprise foam insulation (27) molded around the primary and secondary frame to define exterior and interior planar surfaces (28, 29). The ceiling modules (12) comprises frame means supporting a plurality of ceiling joists (67), and foam insulation (27) dispersed within the frame means and between the ceiling joist (67) so as to define upper and lower ceiling surfaces (68, 69). In one embodiment, floor modules (14) are also provided. A method for fabricating the various modules of the present invention is also disclosed.
TL;DR: In this paper, an exterior building cladding system has anchor and washer arrangements for securing horizontal furring in spaced relation to one another and to the exterior of the building, and the bottom hanger of the top panels are joined to top hanger on adjacent bottom panel by a horizontal spline.
Abstract: An exterior building cladding system has anchor and washer arrangements for securing horizontal furrings in spaced relation to one another and to the exterior of the building. Top hanger on inside surface of the panels is mounted on the horizontal furring and the bottom hanger of the top panels are joined to top hanger of adjacent bottom panel by a horizontal spline which mounts the horizontal furring. Side hangers of adjacent panel are joined together by a vertical spline.
