TL;DR: Treatment of psoriasis with Fowler's solution (potassium arsenite) led to hemangioendothelial sarcoma of the liver 7 years after discontinuation of the drug, which is not an uncommon manifestation of chronic arsenic exposure.
Abstract: In this case report treatment of psoriasis with Fowler's solution (potassium arsenite; 17 years) led to hemangioendothelial sarcoma of the liver 7 years after discontinuation of the drug. Fowler's solution is a carcinogen and, as seen from a review of the literature, hemangioendothelial sarcoma of the liver is not an uncommon manifestation of chronic arsenic exposure.
TL;DR: A patient with an angiosarcoma of the liver associated with the chronic ingestion of Fowler's solution (potassium arsenite) is described, and selective angiography demonstrated features consistent with both hepatoma and cavernous hemangioma.
TL;DR: A case of an elderly man in whom arsenical keratoses and cutaneous cancers developed decades after being treated with oral Fowler solution, for the treatment of acne during adolescence is described.
Abstract: SCC: squamous cell carcinoma INTRODUCTION Chronic arsenic exposure is rare in developed nations. The few cases of arsenical keratosis in the United States have primarily been attributed to occupational and medicinal exposures. Here, we describe a case of an elderly man in whom arsenical keratoses and cutaneous cancers developed decades after being treated with oral Fowler solution, for the treatment of acne during adolescence.
