TL;DR: In this article, a system and method of generating a playlist of affinity related media files using affinity relationship data is presented, where relationship affinity data is based upon a user rating score obtained from a population of user's ratings associated with media file attributes.
Abstract: A system and method of generating a playlist of affinity related media files using affinity relationship data. In one aspect the relationship affinity data is based upon a user rating score obtained from a population of user's ratings associated with media file attributes. In one aspect, a media file attribute which can include an artist, album, title, and genre information associated with a media file is received from a user, indicating the user's desire to create an affinity playlist of media files having an affinity relationship based upon the selected media file attribute.
TL;DR: In this article, a file compression processor consisting of a file status monitor which compares the current available capacity on the file unit to record files and the threshold value predetermined as the upper limit of the available capacity is presented.
Abstract: A file compression processor of the present invention comprises a file status monitor which compares the current available capacity on the file unit to record files and the threshold value predetermined as the upper limit of the available capacity and a file compression portion which compresses a file on said file unit when the file status monitor judges that the current available capacity is smaller than the threshold. It further comprises a file attribute controller which stores the control information for the files recorded on the file unit including the last access date, the number of accesses, whether the file is already compressed or not and a search portion which searches for files not yet compressed with low access frequency based on the control information so as to select files to be compressed for compression by said compression portion and a compression method selector which determines the data type and the access frequency of the file for compression by said compression portion based on the control information, selects the file compression method suitable for said data type and the access frequency and instructs said compression portion to execute processing by the selected compression method.
TL;DR: In this paper, the file system API (application programming interface) is extended to provide a search capability and a wide range of methods addressing scalability issues associated with integrating retrieval operations into the fabric of geographically distributed virtual file servers are disclosed.
Abstract: Objects contained within enormous geographically distributed virtual file servers spanning thousands (or even millions) of organizations are each assigned globally unique object identifiers, enabling the implementation of highly distributed indexing and retrieval operations. The file system API (application programming interface) is extended to provide a search capability. A search request targeting a specific domain creates a parallel namespace anchored in that domain's root directory. The parallel namespace, containing directories and links to all objects satisfying the search criteria, may be navigated using the standard file system API. Relevance scores, added as new members of the file attribute structure, enable the construction and presentation of views that convey where the centers of expertise associated with the search matter are located. In addition, a wide range of methods addressing the scalability issues associated with integrating retrieval operations into the fabric of geographically distributed virtual file servers are disclosed.
TL;DR: In this paper, a heuristic malware detection method can include merging a baseline inventory of file attributes for respective files from each client computing system in a community of client computing systems into a merged inventory.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for the heuristic malware detection In one embodiment of the invention, a heuristic malware detection method can include merging a baseline inventory of file attributes for respective files from each client computing system in a community of client computing systems into a merged inventory The method further can include receiving an updated inventory of file attributes in a current inventory survey from different ones of the client computing systems Each received survey can be compared to the merged inventory, and in response to the comparison, a deviant pattern of file attribute changes can be detected in at least one survey for a corresponding client computing system Thereafter, the deviant pattern can be classified as one of a benign event or a malware attack Finally, malware removal can be requested in the corresponding client computing system if the deviant pattern is classified as a malware attack
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose to protect target file attributes by limiting development tool access to the target file if development tool capabilities mismatch target file attribute information, and assign a registration permission key to the development tool if the tool capabilities match the target files attributes.
Abstract: Accessing a legacy target file with a potentially corrupting development tool, where the target file is characterized by its attributes, and the development tool is characterized by its tool capabilities, including the capability to return the target file with changed attributes. Protecting target file attributes is accomplished by limiting development tool access to the target file if development tool capabilities mismatch target file attributes. This is achieved by determining target file attributes from a source of target file attribute information. The determination of access is done by matching target file attributes to tool capabilities and granting development tool access to the target file if there is a match of target file attributes and tool capabilities, and denying or limiting access if there is a mismatch. A further step is assigning a registration permission key tool to the development tool if the development tool capabilities match the target file attributes.
