TL;DR: The authors found that there were significantly higher proportions of individuals reporting ISFJ and ESFJ preferences in Anglican Church congregations than in the population of men and women at large.
Abstract: In principle churches proclaim their invitation to worship to all sectors of the population. In practice some sectors appear more willing to respond. Alongside the more visible demographic bias in terms of sex and age, this study draws attention to the less visible bias in terms of psychological type. New data provided by 185 rural Anglican churchgoers who completed the Francis Psychological Type Scales demonstrated that there were significantly higher proportions of individuals reporting ISFJ and ESFJ preferences in church congregations than in the population of men and women at large.
TL;DR: For instance, the authors found that between one-quarter and one-third (28%) of the male evangelical Church leaders displayed a preference for sensing, feeling, and judging as either ESFJ or ISFJ.
Abstract: A sample of 57 male evangelical church leaders completed a measure of psychological type. The data demonstrated that between one-quarter and one-third (28%) displayed a preference for sensing, feeling, and judging as either ESFJ or ISFJ. This is consistent with findings from other recent studies concerned with the personality profile of clergy.
TL;DR: In this paper, a sample of 278 male and 213 female Bible College students in England completed Form G (Anglicized) of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and found clear preferences for introversion over extraversion, for sensing over intuition, and for judging over perceiving among both male and female Bible college students.
Abstract: A sample of 278 male and 213 female Bible College students in England completed Form G (Anglicized) of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The data demonstrated clear preferences for introversion over extraversion, for sensing over intuition, and for judging over perceiving among both male and female Bible College students. Among females there was also a clear preference for feeling over thinking. The two predominant types among female Bible College students emerged as ISFJ (23%) and ESFJ (17%). The two predominant types among male Bible college students emerged as ISTJ (15%) and ISFJ (13%).
TL;DR: Examination of demographic and personality characteristics of highly effective hospice volunteers in Texas found that volunteers had above-average incomes, were predominately white, female, active in other voluntary activities, and motivated by their own experiences with death of a loved one.
Abstract: The purpose of the study was to examine demographic and personality characteristics of highly effective hospice volunteers. Volunteer coordinators of all Texas Hospice Organization member hospices were asked to select their most committed and effective volunteers to participate in the study. Volunteers had above-average incomes, were predominately white, female, active in other voluntary activities, and motivated by their own experiences with death of a loved one. The largest proportion of female volunteers (27.3 percent) were extroverted, sensing, feeling, judging personality types (ESFJ), whereas, for male volunteers, the largest proportion (20.8 percent) were introverted, sensing, thinking, judging personality types (ISTJ). This information will be beneficial in recruitment, training, and retention of hospice volunteers.
