Abstract: An audio effects control for and method of controlling the application of special audio effects applied to an audio signal, comprises a sensor configured to sense movement associated with the generation of the audio signal, wherein the sensor produces a control signal in response to detecting the movement, and the control signal is transmitted to an audio effects unit to control application of an audio effect on an audio signal.

Abstract: This paper describes the innovative challenges of including the development of real-time digital audio effect algorithms in an existing introductory digital signal processing lecture class. The basic course structure is discussed and the software, hardware and two audio effect algorithms are described. The quality of the effect algorithms are compared with a commercially available effects unit at auditions during a student project demonstration day.
TL;DR: This report outlines the design and implementation of a digital guitar effects unit and amplifier based on test data of guitar signals and a Texas Instruments c6713 floating point processor.
Abstract: This report outlines the design and implementation of a digital guitar effects unit and amplifier. The main portion of this project consisted of the digital equalizer and effects. Several commercial equalizers were researched in order to decide the typical frequency bands and average amount of bands total. Eventually 8 bands were selected. A range of approximately 20Hz-3kHz was chosen based on test data of guitar signals. Popular effects that were incorporated in this project include Distortion, Echo, Reverb, Chorus and Flanger. The digital processor chosen was a Texas Instruments c6713 floating point processor. Designs for the various filters were done in MatLab and implementation on the processor was done through TI’s Code Composer Studio.
TL;DR: A musical signal mixing unit for connection, in use, between a musical instrument such as a steel guitar, and a loudspeaker, comprises a circuit with an input for receiving a signal from the musical instrument and/or a volume pedal.
Abstract: A musical signal mixing unit for connection, in use, between a musical instrument (1) such as a steel guitar, and a loudspeaker (4), comprises a circuit with an input for receiving a signal from the musical instrument and/or a volume pedal. The circuit includes: a first bypass signal path, for transmitting the signal without passing through an effects unit to a summing point of an amplifier; and a second signal path for transmitting the signal to the summing point of the amplifier via an external effects unit such as a reverb or delay pedal. The circuit may include buffer amplifiers and signal conditioners. Two or more effects units, preferably a delay effect unit followed by a reverb effect unit, may be connected in series and a volume adjusting unit may be inserted between the two or more effects units.
