TL;DR: In this paper, a high-viscosity and transparent surfactant composition is obtained by including an acrylic copolymer thickener modified for hydrophobicity (e.g. an acrylate/ Steareth-20 methacrylate copolymers), a polyol alkoxy ester thickener and a mixture thereof.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-viscosity and transparent surfactant composition having low irritation to skin or eyes and excellent in dispersibility by including a specific acrylic copolymer thickener, a specific amount of a polyol alkoxy ether thickener and a specified surfactant. SOLUTION: This surfactant composition is obtained by including (A) an acrylic copolymer thickener modified for hydrophobicity (e.g. an acrylate/ Steareth-20 methacrylate copolymer), (B) >=1 wt.% of a polyol alkoxy ester thickener [e.g. KESSCO 6000 (R)] and (C) a surfactant selected from an anionic surfactant (e.g. sodium laureth sulfate), a nonionic surfactant (e.g. decyl polyglucose), an amphoteric surfactant (e.g. disodium lauroamphodiacetate), a betaine surfactant (e.g. lauryl betaine) and a mixture thereof. The weight ratio of the components A to B is preferably (3:1) to (1:350) based on the degree of activity thereof.
