Abstract: Daubenya Lindl. was until recently thought to comprise the single species D. aurea Lindl. but is now considered to include the monotypic genera Androsiphon Schltr. and Amphisiphon W.F.Barker. as well as the species previously referred to the genus Neobakeria Schltr. Eight species are now recognized in the genus, including the new combinations Daubenya comata (Burch, ex Baker) J.C.Manning & A.M.van der Merwe and D. zeyheri (Kunth) J.C.Manning & A.M.van der Merwe. Each species is fully described and illustrated in black-and-white and in colour. A key to the species, and distribution maps are provided.
TL;DR: Daubenya alba A.M. van der Merwe, from the edge of the Roggeveld escarpment in the Northern Cape Province, is described as a new species that resembles D. capensis (Schltr.) A.C. Manning in leaf shape, floral structure and the presence of a staminal tube, but is distinguished by its delicate white to pale lilac flowers.
