Abstract: Plant investigations are discussed which identified the cause of significant dense medium cyclone operating inefficiencies to be poor design of the magnetite distribution system. Data are also given which question currently adopted dense medium cyclone control philosophies. Recommendations are given to allow an improved control system to be developed.
