Abstract: A portable personal convenience device carried by a person having access to a transportation vehicle is provided that includes personal convenience means for performing a non-transportation related convenience function. A passive entry device is integrated within the personal convenience means and adapted to interact with the transportation vehicle for passively gaining access thereto. The passive entry device includes a receiver for receiving an interrogating signal from an electronic control module in the transportation vehicle. A transmitter is provided for broadcasting a response signal to the electronic control module. A controller is provided for controlling the transfer of the response signal to the electronic control module in response to the interrogating signal.
TL;DR: In this article, a combined personal convenience and remote fob device is provided for use with a transportation vehicle, which includes a housing and is adapted to perform a non-transportation related convenience function.
Abstract: A combined personal convenience and remote fob device is provided for use with a transportation vehicle. The personal convenience device includes a housing and is adapted to perform a non-transportation related convenience function. The remote fob device is supported within the housing and is capable of performing at least one of an active remote keyless entry function, an active remote start function, a passive entry function, a passive start function, and an immobilizer function.
TL;DR: In this article, an arrangement for remotely controlling convenience functions at a plurality of devices (35 X-35 Y) includes a pluralityof device-based receivers (30 X-30 Y) and a plurality-of portable transmitters (20 A-20 C) including capability of being configurable to be compatible with any of the plurality of receivers ( 30 X- 30 Y) for outputting a remote convenience function request signal to cause remote control performance of a function at the respective device.
Abstract: An arrangement ( 10 ) for remotely controlling convenience functions at a plurality of devices ( 35 X- 35 Y) includes a plurality of device-based receivers ( 30 X- 30 Y) and a plurality of portable transmitters ( 20 A- 20 C). Each of the plurality of receivers ( 30 X- 30 Y) include the capability of receiving a remote convenience function request signal and conveying a remote convenience function request message to a device operations system ( 38 X or 38 Y) for use in performing a remotely requested convenience function. Each of the plurality of transmitters ( 20 A- 20 C) include capability of being configurable to be compatible with any of the plurality of receivers ( 30 X- 30 Y) for outputting a remote convenience function request signal to cause remote control performance of a function at the respective device ( 35 X or 35 Y).
TL;DR: In this article, a remote convenience receiver unit (12) is associated with a vehicle (16), which receives a Remote Convenience Signal (20) that conveys remote convenience function request and causes performance of the requested function at the vehicle.
Abstract: A remote convenience receiver unit (12), which is associated with a vehicle (16), receives a remote convenience signal (20) that conveys a remote convenience function request and causes performance of the requested function at the vehicle. The receiver unit (12) consumes a first amount of energy while awaiting reception of the remote convenience signal (20) at an ability to readily receive the remote convenience signal. A signal monitor and duty-cycle control (82) monitors duration of inactivity caused by a lack of receipt of a remote convenience signal (20), causes reduction of functional operation of the receiver unit (12) to consume a second, lesser amount of energy after a first duration of inactivity, and causes reduction of functional operation of the receiver unit to consume a third, lesser and different amount of energy after a second, different duration of inactivity.
