TL;DR: A message processing and forwarding system for processing electronic messages in a digital format received over a computer communication path or network, and forwarded over a telephone circuit switched network to a user's receiver, such as a pager, is described in this paper.
Abstract: A message processing and forwarding system for processing electronic messages in a digital format received over a computer communication path or network, and forwarded over a telephone circuit switched network to a user's receiver, such as a pager. A content processor in a message server processes the received digital message in accordance with knowledge of the receiver's capabilities and user-configured message filtering information to create a customized second message suitable for handling by the user's receiver at a remote physical location. Also, the system defines a distributed architecture for global paging, including multiple redundancy, to yield a robust system. In a preferred embodiment, the original digital message is part of an e-mail message received and forwarded through a conventional computer communication network such as the Internet.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a multi-modal browsing system and method. The modes of the client and content are determined and an intelligent content processor may translate content from one mode to another to provide the client with a multidimensional browsing experience.
Abstract: The invention is a multi-modal browsing system and method. The modes of the client and content are determined. An intelligent content processor may translate content from one mode to another to provide the client with a multi-modal browsing experience.
TL;DR: In this paper, a system for transmitting information to a display includes one or more content sources, a network, a content processor, and a display device, each capable of transmitting content to a content router in first formats according to packet-based communication protocol.
Abstract: A system for transmitting information to a display includes one or more content sources, a network, a content processor, and a display device. The content sources are each capable of transmitting content to a content router in first formats according to packet-based communication protocol. The network selectively couples content sources to the content processor. The content processor requests and receives content from a selected content source. The content processor then modifies the first formats and generates a video stream based on the received content and transmits the video stream to the display device. The display device then displays the video stream.
TL;DR: In this paper, an integration agent dynamically integrates a protection agent into the loaded runtime content processor application image to form a customized application with extended functionality, while the application master image remains unaltered.
Abstract: A content processor application is loaded into memory from a master image to form a runtime content processor application image. An integration agent dynamically integrates a protection agent into the loaded runtime content processor application image to form a customized content processor application with extended functionality. Only the runtime content processor application image is extended with the protection agent—the application master image remains unaltered.
TL;DR: In this article, the packet engine may drop the packet, redirect the packet or load balance the packet based on the header information of the packet to adjust quality of service (QoS).
Abstract: Packets received over a network are routed using a packet engine of the invention based on information contained in layer 4 or above. The information for switching is contained in the header information of the packet. Based on this higher level information, the packet engine may drop the packet, redirect the packet, load balance the packet, perform bandwidth provisioning (e.g., limit the speed of a connection), or adjust quality of service (e.g., change priority or rearrange a queue of packets to be handled), or combinations of these.
